As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
No, no, no, you don't have to thank me, not necessary.
You watched him playing for the past few years the same as I did ...................... do you believe that he is a proper DM ?
I don't believe he ever nailed down a role at United and had a few managers so won't judge him on that.
I do think we need someone who can add a bit of muscle, can be a bit dirty (as this team is a bunch of fannies) can break up play and be told to lay off a simple pass to one of the many ball players in the team, we need someone to sit infront of the defence and behind Ramsey and Xhaka because those two can't be trusted to do the defensive parts.
Can he do that? Yes, I think he can do those tasks, is he the right signing for Arsenal? No, probably won't happen but I do remember a time when many wanted him signed and got pretty angry when Wenger got palmed off by Everton and brought back the cheaper option in Arteta, some will prefer to wipe that from their memory as they've seen what he did at United but I won't forget many wanting him to be signed, plenty on here too.
Right now, for me if it's a case of Fellaini coming or Xhaka and Ramsey in a crap pivot that don't protect the defence than I'm all over Fellaini as a freebie and happy to hope he works out.

Please point me to a single game where he played as a DM in the PL and performed to a level where he would be good enough for us.
Go on.
That's not my place to do that and that wasn't your original statement, you made a claim that said he never played there, I was just happy to show you being wrong.
Its going to be a 60 game season this year, Bellerin needed cover and it has to be better than spending 17m on the Porto reserve RB or relying on a young midfielder filling in there.
really happy about this lichsteiner signing, "excited" isn't the word, but very, very satisfied that things are taking a turn and instead of signing young kids that aren't ready, and won't get the necessary coaching and leadership from the manager or the rest of the team, we're signing a ready made, proven professional

I remember him in a DM role at Everton but not at manure. Problem is he's been at manure for 5 years doing a bit of this and a bit of that almost a utility player. I think it's fair to say his best ( ) days are behind him and it's a difficult one to call if you look solely at his manure days. Anyone out there follow the Belgian national team and able to offer an informed opinion? If his wages aren't nuts then he might just be worth a punt but I'm not 100% convinced.
Pleased with that signing. Experienced, leader, winner.....something we don’t have in defence!!
Isn’t it great to sign a player for a specific position rather than sign a utility player or shoeing a player in a ‘foreign’ position. Amazing what a football manager can do rather than a glorified amateur accountant running the team!!
Hope so. Fellaini seems a bad fit for Arsenal. Fine as a super sub but he's clearly leaving united for more game time, so would only come to be a starter. No thanks!

The bit in red.... huh? Wtf?
You are just making stuff up now! I don't believe more than one or two people on here ever wanted the useless crunt and his ludicrous hair at the Arsenal. I remember being relieved we went with Arteta rather than the Fellaini moron. As for now? I'd rather re-sign Legohead Denilson or Alex Mong ffs. And I'd rather cut my own balls off and staple them to my eyes than re-sign either of those fucktards.

He is still the Swiss captain so we will get a good look at him when they play Brazil on 17/6, that should be a pretty good test of where he is at these days. I'm hoping to see some old skool defending from our new signing...a few well placed elbows leaving a trail of concussed half dead primadonnas across the park
Oh and Xhaka might be there too if anyone is interested
Let's not re-write history DB10, many were deflated when he signed Arteta, Fellaini had a strong season that year, was linked with us, United & Chelsea, Arteta was very much the cheap option in that deflating trolley dash.
“Stephan brings huge experience and leadership to our squad. He’s a player with great quality with a very positive and determined attitude. Stephan will improve us on and off the pitch.”
Sokratis is also a leader something we have been crying out for and believe you will see major improvements in Chambers and Holding and possibly Bellarin.
I think we will go with Cech for another season especially if he is better protected , he may bring in a younger keeper though and offload ospina.
As for Fellaini I really hope that falls through , NZonzi would be a smarter choice in the short term.
