THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

BT shitSport did a camera pan around the packed and flag bedecked Conglomerates Lego Bowl last night. Admittedly it looked great and there was a great atmosphere building. Then Mensa Representative Martin Keown at one point made some comment about the stadium possibly being Wenger's greatest legacy.

And I thought "fucking hell the one thing I hate possibly the most about modern Arsenal is the greatest thing Wenger did.... dragged us from our beautiful iconic home to this soulless corporate bowl...." :censored:

I miss Highbury so much and if there was only one thing I could go back in time and change about the Wenger years it wouldn't even be the trophy drought, it would be the move to the new stadium. :|
But then we wouldn’t have been able to compete with Europes elite
Fuck me yeah. What was I thinking? I'm such an arsehole.

Give me Highbury any day then the soulless metal/plastic shell of a stadium.

He made some fucking silly comment like : "It was built for nights like this." Yeah, the UEFA cup nights. Just like those exact same Cup Winners Cup nights and UEFA cup nights we had at Highbury.

Just a quick thought - over the past 10 seasons or so, there have been war chest stories for the lead-up to season ticket renewals. What if this year was 'Wenger is leaving' followed by an about face, and 'There really is no better candidate' after the renewals start flooding in....

All we'll hear for the next few weeks will be Wonga saying 'I could have had this job or that job but I was loyal....blah blah blah' or the media saying he's been offered this and that to be manager........ Wonga will be full on attack mode on everything.

I can believe he has offers from Chinese clubs, it's his level......SHIT! :barscarf:

And you just know that the minute we achieve anything under the new manager, it'll be "Well, I was never given the money to do that" or "Well, I could have done that but I didn't have the money to compete" or perhaps some shit along the lines of : " Well, look, I wanted to do that but I had to make sacrifices for the good of the club. Anyone can do what he's done but I had to do more important things for Arsenal."
And you just know all his fucking luvvies will be spouting this shit too. Imagine what Arsene could have done with this support from the board....

The thing I will remember him for the most is the manager who made me stop caring about the team I've supported for 40 years+

Thanks for that you old scrote

Man U away - no longer bothered. Rather take the wife and mother-in-law to bingo

Conceding a late goal in the home leg of a European semi-final - a sort of "oh well" shrug of the shoulders and a chuckle at another defensive masterclass

Bashed 4-0 at Anfield - ahh well, been there seen that (times many)

30+ points off the title - haven't challenged for it in 14 years, what's new. Stop even looking at the league results past September

More money wasted on dross - not my money, hope he fucks the yank c.unt over anyway

Drive to Nottingham to see a bunch of kids get wiped out in one of the cups we can win - water off a duck's back

In summary - there's nothing left for him to do that could make me feel anymore indifference towards my team.......and there's no bigger crime than that.....which is why in my mind he'll always be a complete and utter c.unt

But have you read all the press releases from those clubs he turned down over the years who clearly are gutted that he did. No.....me neither. I wonder how many of them are thinking that they dodged a bullet the day wenker turned them down :rubchin:

what really dogs me off about all this bollox about if it wasn't for wenger we would never have moved to the emirates is the fact that nearly every club in the past 10 years has redeveloped or moved to a new stadium, the way the mongs bang on about it youd think that everybody else was playing in the ramshackle stadiums of the 80's and 90's,ffs even the likes of MK Dons and sunderland have great stadiums, and if our move was down to wengers success then tell me this how the fuck are spurs moving to a new stadium which from the pictures I have to say looks really impressive when they haven't won a sausage in years and years???????

A manager swap deal with Emery coming the other way? :rubchin:

I think he's a decent manager.

Yeah saw that but it is the General Manager position not the coach - TOF can't accept a position he doesn't recognise and he still wants to be in charge of a team. Having come from Japan I'm hoping he fucks off to China so we can all forget him.

Not sure if it's true but read that Everton are interested in him and have quite a decent transfer budget he can totally waste. Do you think he could resign Mustafi from us as the Everton manager as an apology to our fans ?
