Phil Jones would be a good signing IMO. He can play CB & DMC, he's English and there had to be something good about him because Fergie wanted to build a new team around him.

Phil Jones is one of the most overrated players ever. He is built up to be some big thing because he is English. No coincidence he was part of a United team that got caught out a lot.

Over-rated ?? I dont think anyone over-rates him because everybody knows how shite he really is I still say that smalling has the ingrediants to be a good player but phil jones is a lumbering ox with no redeemable assets and how he retains/retained the support of so many manure fans baffles me

I don't think Smalling is all that. Way too nervous on the ball. Seems slow off the mark half the time and caught out a lot on a a set piece. English Senderous. United need a total overhaul of defenders and I'm glad we have two very good CB's.

Don't rate Smalling at all, if he HAS to take one of them I can see him taking Jones who played at RB, CB and DM for Blackburn, he was quite good at Blackburn and I dont think anyone covered themselves in glory there last year.

Dont want either tbh, both snubbed us for them so let them rot on the bench.

I understand what you're saying but I genuinely think Jones would be a decent signing if Vermaelen HAD to go. Needless to say, his versatility ticks all the boxes for Wenger He has potential to do very well. His first season or so at United was decent. I'd be inclined to ignore last season. Most, if not all, United players were crap last season.

Smalling can stay where he is . Thanks.

An utter calamity at CB and an embarrassing hatchet man clogging around CM, I would without doubt leave him fighting with fellow prodigy Chris Smalling to play second fiddle to Rafael in the RB role.

i would take chris smalling if the choice was between him and jones, hes a complete donkey at rb because it exposes his glaring weakness which is ability on the ball, at CB hes actually not that bad imo.
