SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I can't believe I allowed myself to think this summer would be any different after Gazidis' warchest trumpeting.

Still, a month to go, plenty of time to snap up Loic Remy and Joe Cole!
You're not the only one mate...believe me. :banghead:
Nice post fix!

That must be one hell of a specific clause if true. We are an entrant to this year's CL as defined by UEFA rules, so they must have specifically worded it to be a club playing in the Group stage?

Where did you hear the rumour ?
That rumour originated from RAWK  Haven't seen anything official outside of that site yet...

Utter nonsense - the clause doesn't exist, or if it does would never be so specific. Still a bloke down the pub said it so.....

more fool me for being optimistic, we're signing nobody of quality again and will be trophy-less again, the only way we'll be rid of this curse (wenger) is if we fall out of the top 4, so i hope we do.

Can I just send out this one last appeal to all of those suffering this same disappointment now.

When we're six points behind Spurs in March, but then have the mother of all unbeaten runs against Everton, West Ham, Hull, Newcastle, West Brom........finally culminating in a family size box of Kleenex moment at Norwich to clinch that "be all and end all" vital 4th Chumpions League spot.......and you start to think 2014 will be the Summer.....when it all changes......when he will 'spend big'......when he 'knows what's needed'........when we're linked with whoever just scored 25 goals in one of the top leagues.........when the reported warchest is £120m......when there's a week left to decide whether to invest £1200 in that season ticket......

FOR FUCK SAKE LOOK BACK TO THIS THREAD......AND EVERY OTHER FUCKING TRANSFER WINDOW THREAD SINCE WE MOVED STADIUM........AND REMIND YOUR-FUCKING-SELF THAT ITS THE SAME CLUELESS WANKER AT THE HELM........AND NEVER, EVER, EVER ALLOW YOURSELF TO THINK FOR ONE SECOND THAT THE BRAINLESS HALFWIT WILL EVER, EVER WAKE UP AND SEE WHAT'S NEEDED TO BUILD A TITLE CHALLENGING TEAM IN THE MODERN ERA

AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH

Funny how we can offload the likes of campbell on loan and get shot of the fat *word censored* santos (which IS wonderful!) whilst the team are on the other side of the world having a jolly old time making money for the Kerrrchinggg machine that is AFC...but to actually sign a player ...well that must be something else I guess

I remember being in the Double Parade celebrations outside Highbury in 2001-02 and taking a photo of wenger holding up the two trophies...I was looking at that photo recently and would never have believed myself or anyone else then - if they told me that within 10 years you will begin to loathe him and want him GONE !!! - It really saddens me (and for the past 6 seasons I even felt guilty about thinking & feeling like that) but not anymore - He just seems to live in a world of his own - The whole of the footballing world - Players/managers/press/pundits/fans - EVERYONE - See's the problems - AND how to fix them by signing the right kind of players to fill & fix the problem areas in the team - BUT Oh! Nooo NOT Wenger...

I keep thinking it is like a bad f*cking dream and I'll wake up....But this is just another Groundhog summer transfer window...scenario - and it just keeps on repeating and repeating and repeating and repeating and repeating and repeating and NOTHING WILL CHANGE! :banghead: :cussing: :banghead: :cussing:

This should probably go in the Wenger thread but just backing up OBG's point really so sod it. I've been wanting a change since 2008's Brum induced fuck up, but up until a couple of seasons ago I was prepared to let Wenger go with all the goodwill in the world, but sadly the memories of past glories during his reign have faded with every groundhog season and transfer window, and every pathetic soundbite like the ones from yesterday and many summers previous, until it came to a point where I couldn't stand the sight of the bloke.

The achievements of the early Wenger era will never be forgotten, but to me, although Wenger probably deserves some credit I admit, the great players we had will always be synonymous with that golden era than him. All because of the way he's fucked us over for the last 8 years, and the many more fruitless years to come. This is the way I'll remember him now unfortunately

And if we fall out of the top 4 the world will end and the club that managed to exist successfully and gloriously for well over 100 years without the Chumpions League will cease to be
