Don't disagree with a word of that fella. I think he started to show really good signs of how good he could be the first season he joined before that c++t at Sunderland took him out with that horrible tackle (that a number of people in UEFA would deem on a par with diving and winning a penalty)Eboue-Why? wrote:Great post Steve, agree with most of what you say but Diaby has got a lot to do to convince me that long term he will turn into a consistent quality player. Last night's run and set up for the first was very like his brilliant run at Villa. Just so frustrating that he doesn't appear to have much of a footballing brain most of the time. At the moment he just doesn't know when to pass and when to take it on. So for me (as the pundits always say) he's still a long way off being the quality player in the centre to replace Cesc when he goes next summer.
Ever since then he has been too injury prone, but in games like Villa and Fenerbahce away last year when he was fit and played in his proper role he ran the show and produced glimpses of brilliance. I'm convinced that if he stays fit and we don't change his role every other week he will be a really good CM. The consistency will come with fitness and confidence in his role.
He showed in one movement yesterday something that Song and Denilson could only dream of and not produce in the next 10 years
