AWAY TO PORTO THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

It's become so bad that i bet the majority of us don't even look forward to our games anymore. Not even excited about the possibility of reaching the cl quarter finals at the moment. Sad scenes indeed.

I hope we don't so we can stop with the pretence that this team is any thing but average.

We are going to lose even the half decent ones. Fabregas had a shite game but why should he always carry the can. There are 11 players on that team and how many of us would be bothered if he buggers off to Barcelona.

Play with Bendtner,Walcott,Denilson or Messi,Iniesta,Xavi.

Said it before and will say it again, if we don't buy and sell smoe shite big time in the summer...he will walk. If he doesn't then he's a bottler, NOT loyal like some would delude themselves because only a loser stays where he's surrounded by complete an utter shite
You have just compared Barca's best three players with 3 players that dont start for Arsenal when eveyone is fit...that is a bit silly!
Missing the point slightly aren't we....the squad is so average that it's the best we can do right now.

BTW Walcott when fit has been first choice on the right in the past so don't know what you mean there. The other first choice would be who Eboue,Rosicky.....
No because if Messi, Iniesta and Xavi were all out at the same time then Barca would struggle!!

and Walcott is definitely not first choice!! thats masness to say that...Nasri, Rosicky, Eboue are all far better than him...thats clear to see!

Walcott was first choice up until this recent injury.

Yeh? Decent opposition such as Real Madrid and AC Milan..

We've seen it before, we can beat anyone over two legs
Just a reminder that these players were playing in the tie against Real Madrid: Henry, Pires, Ljungberg, Lehmann, Toure, Flamini, Gilberto, Reyes and Bergkamp.

To suggest that winning a tie four years ago with a completely different (and superior) set of players means that we can now "beat anyone over two legs" is laughable, quite frankly.

It's only now that Wenger sees his second touch is a tackle that he's not 1st choice anymore.

Still good enough for a contract extension mind.

I know - having to cope with also rans like Busquets and Yaya Toure must be a real pain in the ass. Let alone when they occasionally had to make do with Bojan up front - not a patch on our Nic

No not a patch on our Nic the self proclaimed greatest player of all time. It's a pity he's a bit shit with confidence like that. :?

What's the point in even getting excited about possibly turning the 2nd leg around against "the great porto" when we all know that we're just in this competition to make up the numbers and if we're lucky enough to get through we'll get done by who ever we draw anyway. We can't defend and they'll probably come to our place and get a score draw. Another potless season for us again i'm afraid.

Yes, didn't he just repay that faith tonight. Still the odd goal against Sunderland and Burnley and the Goon In Charge will launch into his patronising speeches about Bendtner proving that he was right not to sign a striker in January

In our last nine games, a total of one goal has come from a striker.

Arshavin versus Bolton.

:? I thought we were playing a team of 11 steve gerrards what with the falling down, diving and constant booing Porto were doing and the ref what a fucking knob, not for helping them with there 2nd goal or not giving us a spot on penalty but with allowing Porto kick anyone near them and blatant diving.

It doesn't distract from the fact that if we get through the next leg(which we should really)we out next round.Sack Gerry Peyton our GK coach would be a move in the right direction for start because Flappy was dire and it's obvious that he's not good enough-thanks wenger-Denilson i didn't know he was playing until he gave he ball away again, again and again,Diarby was is usual self losing possession instead of passing or stopping a quick attack allowing the defence to get back. Can't be bothered to go on.

This was a game where shooting at goal would have brought goals as there keeper was as bad as ours but again it's something wenger doesn't like,Bendtner didn't win a header :x and the bright spark is that Sol has still got it.I'm off to finish my bottle of bells   :x :x :x

is this a good time to point out that all-conquering barca lost 2-1 to atletico madrid WITH xavi, iniesta, messi AND ibrahimovic?

Hi all... Been offline for a while, but back now.

Few observations on tonight:

Flappy - Absolute joke. Nothing more to say.
Sol - Excellent. Should keep Gallas out of side, i think. At least he keeps his position and doesnt feck off up the field in second half thinking he is a striker.
Clichy - Terrible. Several unforced errors, as is his norm lately. Porto went by him way too easy for first goal.
Diaby - Poor. Does he need to be in 6 yard box to shoot ?
Cesc - Average by his own standards. Got lot of stick in first half and kept the head well though.
Nic - Poor. Wish he was as good as he seems to think he is.
Walcott - Inefective. And will continue to be. Only time theo gonnna look good is when we leading and he can use his speed in counter attack against depleted defence of opposition looking to score.
Rest were pretty average too.

Ref - He reffed Ireland France game. Enough said bout the wanker.

All that said, we'll win tie handy at home i think.
