North London Derby

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Stictly speaking yes it is a game but there certainly is more to it. For me it represnts far more, it represents my family (everyone on my mothers side is a gooner), my father supported them as his English team as well. And represents part of my history. Going to Arsenal is the only thing in life I have done consitantly since I was 8 years old. You don't travel with a group of like minded people up and down the country following your team for rugby league?

Likewise you dont have one of the greatest feelings you could experience (such as a Mickey Thomas moment) during Monopoly (which is a game). Football is a game, it's not a matter of life and death but it means far more than what most would classify as just a game.

I for one wouldn't like to think the job was having an effect on his health. It's only a game (there I said it and I fucking mean it, the way some people go on... I love Arsenal with all my heart, but it can only ever be a game...).

For this reason, I actually predict his shock resignation post-season unless we win the league. ;) I don't see why he'd want to put himself through more stress, he had a go, won some, lost some, and would have to be mental to keep coming back for more.
Its more than a game - not more than life or death - but it is more than a game
No it isn't. If an alien asked you what football was, would you say:
1) A sport / game
2) More than a game.
Bollocks. It's more than a game.

Tennis is a game. Hockey is a game. Homo-erotic rubbing (or rugby) is a game. Football is more than a game. Always has been. Always will be.
For some people it is indeed more than a game - for you and some others it is not and thats fair enough.

This is why some go crazy at what is happening at our club because for me it is definitely more than a game.
Think you quoted the wrong post there, mate...
