As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

He's going to united!!
you sure? This (admittedly from a shite source) thinks the blackburn owners dont want him to go there, and have other bids from liverpool and arsenal to consider http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... swoop.html
Interesting. Even if those reports are true though I cant see him coming to us. Wenger may be prepared to go big on this kid but if Liverpool have offered £22m I doubt he’ll go anywhere near matching that - and tbh £22m does seem ridiculous. Not to mention if United have offered him £80k a week he’d probably want something similar from us.
Be typical if the mousers spent £42m on 2 promising but unproven kids & then bought Clichy off us for 6 & a half McNuggets & a quick sniff of the used fanny-pads Torres left behind.

Indeed- mind Liverpool's tactics are a major risk like, everyone says Wenger needs to spend, well LFC are spending but fucking hell, Carroll £35m (one good half season), Henderson £20m (one good season), Jones £22m (one good season), that's £77 fucking million quid for 3 young english players, absolutely mental, they could nearly get Ronaldo for that! I hope if he goes there that they do well like, I'm an England fan and if they're giving chances to young English players i'd love to see them competing in the CL, but what a risk to take. We all know English players are often technically deficient (Henderson isnt right enough, but the other two will be!) and can be shown up against the best sides from the continent, so its a bit mad to base your whole strategy on signing relatively unproven ones for mental amounts of money! The market is going crazy.
Yeah, selling Clichy seems a bit daft- iirc his contract is running out, but really, you're better having him for a season than having 5m that Wenger might well not spend anyway and having to rely solely on Gibbs at left back, it'd cost you much more than 5m to get a replacement for Clichy anyway

Especially if we had to dig in the crates for 4 clones of this pint sized Andre The Giant!
But I agree, organisation is key and the MOST important signing of the summer would be a defensive coach, hopefully this defensive giant of years gone by.
I'm sorry but you wouldn't think so when looking at our squad, take out Wilshere, Fabregas, Nasri and van Persie and we might aswell be one and seeing that we struggled against teams in lower leagues all last year then we are not as strong as you think.
Kevin Doyle? If that was true, Arsenal are well and truly finished? A championship quality player.
Samba isn't world class but there aren't many world class CB's available....if any, and certainly none that Arsene would pay for. We have a major issue of lack of height/ability in defence and Samba is a perfect fit. Not the answer to all our problems but a great option for the same kind of money we spent on one season wonder Koscielny. Cahill AND Samba should see a marked improvement next season, especially if it keeps the chuckle brothers and their best mate out of our team (Squillaci, Kos and Djourou).
Wenger on Cesc: "The Spanish press have been talking for years. I'll be clear: Fabregas is still at Arsenal and will be for a long time".
Wenger on Nasri: "We will do everything we can to keep Nasri at Arsenal. He still has a way to go with us. That's great clubs who made great players, not the opposite"
In my opinion kevin doyle is a good centre forward and is very under-rated That being said he has fcuk all pace and his goalscoring record isnt great but that could improve with a team that creates more chances. He certainly would bust a gut for his team and his ability to hold up the ball is excellent.
All that being said I dont want him to sign for us - firstly I dont believe that he is good enough or pacey enough but secondly as he is one of the very few Irish players I like and respect and I wouldnt want him wasting away with our reserves
If we are sticking with a 433 then someone like Doyle leading the line, holding the ball up, bringing others into play, harassing centre halfs is essential, van Persie next to him would benefit so much from his graft and hold up play.
Some just can't see past players playing for crap clubs as being good or able to bring something to the table, said on another board, Silvestre was highly decorated, had plenty of caps and medals but brought nothing but trauma to the table, it works both ways.
We don't play 4-3-3 though, we play one up front, all the time. Doyle is 28 yo, and played most of that in the lower leagues..... And people criticize Samba FFS!!
If that's true about Kevin Doyle, then I'm one step nearer to not bothering at all this season.
We already have the slowest side in living memory without adding him to the list. I can imagine that tactic at home to the shite teams at the bottom of the table. Doyle up front with his back to goal and one hundred tippy tappy passes around the edge of the area in securing another dull 0-0
Arsene: "You have to give Norwich / QPR / Swansea / Accrington / Lowestoft Town credit - they defended very well"
We want to score goals FFS - not play into teams hands with our plodding forwards
