Modern Football Bol**cks

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Fourteen points separated Sheffield United and Sunderland after 46 league games. Sheffield United achieved 90 points throughout the 46 game season , Sunderland achieved 76 points. 46 games played over nine months in all sorts of conditions. However that isn't enough for modern football. No let's have a play-off and have a Wembley final complete with cup final suits and open top bus celebrations, let's call it the richest game in the world. To do this let's abandon any principles we have over the tried and trusted integrity of the league process. Let's do it for drama and for TV audiences.
Then let's cry over the demise of the beautiful FA Cup competition, let's shoe-horn that in at 4.30pm on a Saturday afternoon on a weekend of other games.
You can call me an old fashioned moaner if you wish, however remember this in ten years time when you are watching The Premier League Grand Final between Manchester City and Newcastle United live from The UAE..
What was remarkable about yesterday was that the play off final felt “bigger than the FA Cup final”.

1 it kicked off at the correct time of 3pm
2 it really mattered to both sets of supporters

Yeah you are right - Liverpool have win the PL too easily. we need to be in a Grand final with them next week!

A bit sad that “ Soccer Aid” now gets more of a build up on TV than the FA Cup final ….

Pre season friendlies in Asia. The same managers will be moaning come October about the amount of games we play and how far their international players have to travel as soon as the first interlull break comes along. The same owners who think its lucrative will have those managers knocking on their doors wanting even bigger squads to cover all the injuries and fatigue. False economy.
Also attempting to add prestige by calling these shit friendlies the Asia Cup or some other shit sponsored name
Nobody cares and I won't watch a minute of it. Enjoy Wimbledon and the cricket and take a break from this painful shite until mid August when we'll have all the emotions to go through again. No need to bring it forward with these wanky made up competitions. Go back to playing Barnet and Peterborough in pre season

Lezza-ball attendances on the decline despite the constant media push to convince right-minded folk that it’s a worthy product.

BBC research found the 12 WSL clubs in total averaged 7,366 in 2023-24, compared with 6,662 in 2024-25 - an average decrease of 704.

Fücking 7000 supporters paying £3 a ticket or picking up freebies for school kids to watch this shïte.

Can we just ignore it completely and help put it out of its misery?

I wish we could mate, but it's that thing now where the Media are afraid of being accused ... by all the woke wañkers and the lezza's brigades of being anti-wimmin's football, even though it is Utter Shyte....

But when you get the likes of this Once decent Arsenal Podcast / Channel on YT Referring to Lianne Anderson as a fucking "Arsenal Legend", then you know it has gone being the Joke that it so obviously is..

to add a caveat to above....believe encouraging people to play football is obviously a positive move....but its this "ministry of information" rollout that really gets my gander... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Robbie Williams has been announced as the Fifa Music Ambassador and has co-written the first official anthem of the global football governing body.

The singer, best known for songs such as Rock DJ, Angels and Candy, has been appointed to the role to "deepen fan connection" and "elevate" the emotion of the game by bringing music and football together on the world stage.
