Yes, the Be Careful What You Wish For clique!
.
I wish for 3rd place and the spuds to finish 5th, now that would be an achievement.
An achievement would be finishing 1st and winning something, not losing to the likes of Blackburn and Bradford in the cups and relying on finishing a distant 3rd or 4th just to qualify for a competition we've got no chance of ever winning!
Unfortunately, the best we could of hoped for this year is finishing 3rd, the money the two manc clubs have spent and chels,Ill be well happy finishing 3rd.
Hopefully in the summer we wil be in a position to spend.
The spuds being back in the europa, is like a nice little bonus.
You must certainly like shit then, because Wenger buys enough of it!!!

He certainly has, but hes also won a few trophies and signed some of the best players weve ever had.
Ive watched the best football Ive ever seen under Wenger, some of the crap i watched growing up, im not over disapointed.
Like I said on my first thread, I dont like everything he does. And i did throw a few ffs at him yesterday.
We can rename it the "Be Careful What You Wish For BBQ" if everyone would prefer. In addition to the compulsory "I luv AW" t-shirts that must be worn I can have some banners with the Portsmouth, Leeds United and Rangers badges on them, so the Wenger luvvies can nod in their direction with a smug look of satisfaction whilst tucking into their Aberdeen Angus.....

Why not call it the BAA BAA Q and just have tescos everyday lamb burgers?
Oh and everyone has obviously got to wear wellies?
Not a chance. I think all these daftys that say it will be Wengers greatest achievement at the club if we finish in the top 4, what a rediculous statement to make do they forget the invincible season, to do somehting that hadn't been done for something like a century in proffesional football and we all lived to see this done by the team we all love!
I do not think for a second that Wenger should leave as it is the board that has put such a restraint on the finances and not him! Don't get me wrong though I can see the boards point from some angles for example big money does not gurantee you a good player prime example being Torres. However I do also agree that Wenger is in a habbit of buying players and turn them into superstars this happens occasionally and then as sopon as they get there super stardom we sell them! Another thing is in no real world do I think Theo Walcott is worth £100,000 a week, for that money he should be performing like sorry to say it Bale! Jesus I was sick in my mouth saying that!
I do believe that it will be a fantastic achievement to finish in the top 4 but I honestly cannot see it, our performance against Norwich on Saturday was terrible, so much so I am dreading the Everton game on Tuesday night and might just put a bet on Everton as they are priced 7/2 so in the case that we do get beat I won't feel so bad!

Just pointing out to you that this is all very past tense. The last great player he signed was van Judas in 2005 (which took long enough to pay off), the last trophy he won in 2005 - how long does this buy him????
SteveO in the past has made a valid point that managers have been sacked without outcry in the past for consistently finishing 4th because it meant nothing - it's only excused now by a bloated cash cow that we're never going to win (CL).

Be careful what you wish for mate......I mean you don't want us to become another Leeds or Portsmouth now do you?

I want to win things asuch as everyone, but everyone knew we wouldn't be spending big the last few years. If we don't finish in the top 4?Wenger should be replaced.

You mean that the "we are moving to a new stadium to compete with Europe's elite" wasn't to be believed then. Funny I don't remember them saying that when they were urging people to take out £4k per annum club level season tickets. Wenger should be replaced full stop. Don't you get tired with selling your best players EVERY summer, hearing how we've got £80m to spend, being disappointed when the transfer window closes, watching us fall out of the title race by the end of September, throw away the domestic cups before finally finding a bit of form when the expectation levels have dropped again in late winter to scrape a top four place.
Years and years and years of the same old story. Same pattern coming up now. Sagna will be sold, Bellerin and Jenkinson will be the overplayed youngsters of 2013/14, Cazorla will be linked with a number of top clubs and unsettled until we're ultimately bullied into flogging him, we'll sign Capoue from Toulouse, have a couple of decent early season games in the CL before collapsing throughout the Autumn, scraping 2nd in the CL group before getting a pasting in the first leg of the last 16 against one of the big boys. The fools of course will allow a meaningless second leg spirited near comeback gloss over the drubbing when the pressure was on in the first leg. The domestic cups will be tossed away in Jan/Feb, as we pluck up the might to scrape ahead of teams paying £50m less in wages than us to repeat the whole fucking sorry thing again the following year
Can we please just try something different from this same old predictable cycle

1) What will finishing 4th really do for us? We've finished top 4 every year since we've moved but we've proven beyond any doubt that it's not going to enable us to win anything, or even motivate us to try. Is it that fun watching our annual raping in Europe? I would rather finish 4th generally speaking than lower, of course, but is it worth this wild distinction?
2) Is it really an achievement to finish 4th? Look at the respective positions of us and Spurs circa 2008. Look at the respective wage bills then and now. They have spent a bit more than us but hardly thrown lorryloads of cash around. In addition to that they've had numerous managers since then, having sacked 3 of them for not doing a good enough job. Should we be celebrating the fact we might squeeze a point ahead of them? Really????
And as I recall it Wenger and the board told us we were moving to allow us to financially compete with Europe's elite? Nobody expected us to go crazy the first few years with spending but equally we moved 7 years ago and this self-imposed austerity shows no sign of abating. And what resources we do have, which are still considerable, are spunked away on long-term contracts for sicknotes and underachievers and £10m+ transfer fees for Giroud, Gervinho etc.

The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth......... Trouble is we are still in the minority and too many supporters are happy with repeated mediocrity. And yes I do think 4th place is mediocrity.

Thing is we are a nowhere team and have been since 2006. Yes we might qualify for the Champ League and get knocked out at the same stage. Most important games we lose and this has been consistent for 6 years. Is that good enough for Arsenal FC. I do not think so. 2004 is a long time ago
