Chelsea away - Official Match Thread
Can honestly say that I only really enjoyed it after the 5th went in.....!
Great result. Great offensive performance. Took advantage of Chelsea's great strength - two attacking full backs - and made them pay. Especially enjoyed Santos goal for that reason.
What is the name of the guy who RVP gave the shirt to at the end? Seen him at so many games - including getting so much stick from Citeh fans in the "Adebayor" game up there. And then I saw his picture in the le Marseille newspaper the day after we won 1-0 there.

I believe, as pointed out by the guys on sky, it isn't possible to have both a potent attack and a solid defence.Jumpers For Goalposts wrote:Imagine how good we'd be if we could defend!!!!
Chelsea right now are the perfect example of this. What used to be a pretty solid defensive unit was exposed time and again with both full backs bombing up the pitch in an effort to add extra attacking strength.
There is a right balance to be struck, we lean far too heavily to one side, but it would be nice to have some solidity back there.
Baba's reac button on some things lately has been a bit ott but ffs give this baiting a rest will ye - there isnt a Gooner alive that isnt fcuking overjoyed with that result even us critical supporters. Despite being proved correct on most assesments it doesnt give any of us even the slightest bit of satisfaction when it happens so today can we all not just unite in our joy and tomorrow we will asses things more clearly

Just checked the offical Chelsea forums, not only did they have a thread dedicated to laughing at us, but it's more hillarious seeing how smug they all were by thinking they would thrash us. Their match thread jumps from the Lampard goal to after the game, a shame really.
Bunch of tw*ts, the lot of them.

Well, that was good.
I have been critical of Van Persie at times, but with this injury-free run, he has completely shut me up. I don't know if it's the lack of injuries, new confidence, or simply he's developed, but suddenly he does look like the player we all wanted him to become.
I wish others who are critical of some things would admit the same and not just say basically "well in the big picture blah blah blah, anything but admit I am sometimes wrong, now is not the time to talk about it etc". Because the minority who are not as critical certainly get it in the neck when we have fucked up, and this is put down to people "letting off steam".
Unusually, we appear to look decent in most departments apart from the defence. This is somewhat unusual to me, and I'm sure to most people here. It is exciting if nothing else.
Enjoy it one and all, whatever will come of this season, have to make the most of these moments, and I personally have been waiting to get one over on them at the Bridge for a very long time.
