Everton FA Cup

Fair play to Clichy, he was terrible for Wigan's vital 2nd goal.

Whereas Fabianski is a steady option? Remember the cup semifinal against Chelsea? Rather have Sczesny myselfGunner Rob wrote:he actually played very well on Saturday.spendsum4uckingmoney wrote:Well that's our FA cup gone.

Chesney has a habit of bottling the big games anyway - I am thinking the 2011 League Cup final, v Bayern Munich, Euro 2012...

Re: Everton FA Cup
Really? I thought he had very little to do, although he still managed to showcase his difficulties communicating and lack of command with two incidents - one where a call to leave the ball run through to him was ignored (BFG I think due to lack of faith) and another where Vermaelen was begging him to come out and get an overhit through-ball and had to hack it into touch as he stayed rooted to his line. Both seemingly minor incidents but indicative of the weakness and liability that transcends his game at all times.Gunner Rob wrote:he actually played very well on Saturday.spendsum4uckingmoney wrote:Well that's our FA cup gone.

The Liverpool game summed him up. A few good saves, then late on comes out and gets nowhere near a cross and Agger should have denied us the victory with a free header into an empty net.
Szczesny has been excellent this season, I was one of the harshest critics of him and Wenger's transfer policy regarding keepers up until September but he has answered back. Obviously made that costly mistake against Bayern and mistake for the opener at Upton Park but other than that has been very solid and has won us a number of points with fine saves. Fabianski has done okay in his few games this year and at the back end of last season but the signs are still clear that he is a walking disaster waiting to happen. The image of him waltzing out and being beaten to the ball by Drogba on our last FA Cup visit to Wembley is still painfully etched into my mind.
As I've repeatedly said there is no justifiable reason for him to play. It/they will be his last game(s) for the club, he's going on a free, he's clearly an inferior keeper. Who benefits from it???

If Flappy costs us the cup Wenger should be sacked on the spot.

Who can we leave out of the semi final to "show the other players that they can win without him"
BFG ?
Cazola or Ozil
Giroud ?
I'm not counting any chickens just yet, if we did get to the final I believe we equal Utd's record of 18 appearances and if we win it also equal that record too with 11 victories. Come On You Gunners

Just win the fucking thing Wenger...no excuses. Golden opportunity, take the plaudits and then fuck off.....please

Re: Everton FA Cup
just can't believe we'll give trust in a GK who is a) a convicted persistent flapper b) is leaving at the end of the season c) has poorer communication with our back 4 than our 1st GK.

I've been the biggest critic of the bloke since he signed.....but has he actually made a mistake in any of the games he's played this year ?Supagoon wrote:just can't believe we'll give trust in a GK who is a) a convicted persistent flapper b) is leaving at the end of the season c) has poorer communication with our back 4 than our 1st GK.
Funny how he's coming in to form just as the contract is up......he's playing for a new club and we might just get the benefit for a few games
It would be nice if he could win us one cup back as a slight payback for all the fucking ones he lost us

Not other than trying to gift Liverpool a replay and managing to look shaky despite having next to nothing to do against EvertonSteveO 35 wrote:I've been the biggest critic of the bloke since he signed.....but has he actually made a mistake in any of the games he's played this year ?Supagoon wrote:just can't believe we'll give trust in a GK who is a) a convicted persistent flapper b) is leaving at the end of the season c) has poorer communication with our back 4 than our 1st GK.

I thinks its a disgrace that our No 1 keeper and a player who has saved us many times this season could miss out on a Wembley semi-final and possible final for a keepers who is about to leave at the end of the year

I reckon poor old Rodders is more likely to pour it all over himself and light a match...SteveO 35 wrote:Bangers and burgers are coming.Kvltman wrote:Dream on, the BBQ is coming! 3 more years!begeegs wrote:I can only hope that we will hear this if we make it to the FA Cup.
'I just wanted to say thank you to the Arsenal fans for their great support of me over the years, but this will be my last game in charge' - Arsene Wenger 2014.
It would be a fitting end and ensures that he leaves on a pretty high note.
After the 1000th game, I'll pass the lighter fluid to my old mate Rodders........oops, best not....he'll drink it when he hears There's Only One will still be the manager in 2017

All good points, when needed over the past season and a half he hasn't let us down in the flappy, runny outy when not needed type fashion that we've all become used to, and has looked a half decent keeper.SteveO 35 wrote:I've been the biggest critic of the bloke since he signed.....but has he actually made a mistake in any of the games he's played this year ?Supagoon wrote:just can't believe we'll give trust in a GK who is a) a convicted persistent flapper b) is leaving at the end of the season c) has poorer communication with our back 4 than our 1st GK.

That said, for a semi final, pick the strongest team, and that means Chesney, which of course as he has already said, he won't do.
The bigger decision (hopefully, fingers crossed etc etc) would come before the final - Stick with the cup keeper, or go with the better one - He was ruthless in 2002 with Richard Wright, and should be again.
Re: Everton FA Cup
Remember Fergie having the balls to drop Leighton and replace him with Les Sealey for an FA Cup final back in the day when hed won nothing for four years since he arrived at Utd and his job was in jeopardy.
Thats the kind of big decision managers have to make. Some say it saved his job at Utd.
Four long years eh, without a trophy...... pity they didnt sack him back then.
