It proper winds me up that people from outside the Arsenal supporter base can make jokes like "I wonder if Arsenal fans will wave those banners on 89 minutes to symbolise the 1 year drought since winning a major trophy"
These people are unwilling or unable to separate a cup win from a sustained period of genuine title contention, which we consistently haven't had in the 2nd half of the Wenger era.

Re: Arsenal v Norwich - Saturday 30th April 2016 @ 17:15pm
On the 78th min protest I received a fair bit of abuse from people behind me and a few things being thrown in my direction...whenever I turned around no one would make eye contact with me. Eventually I clocked someone who was giving me abuse and offered him a placard. He was 2 rows behind me and about 10 seats to my left, so quite far away from me...he said "I'll shove it up your arse"....being the reasonable man I am I said "of course you will princess" and blew him a kiss.
As he was a distance from me i decided to leave it until the end of the game...I then walked over to him and his friends and asked if he'd like a chat now....he turned on his toes and fucked off as quick as he could whilst his friends shouted to the stewards that I was "starting trouble "...there was 10 of them and just me and my mate (who weirdly is an akb) on our own.
These are the sort of people who now follow us....fucking cowards. The sort that would shout how much the hate Tottenham in the safety of the ground and shit themselves as soon as they see a flid outside.
I couldn't believe the support for wenger today...especially considering these *word censored* don't sing any other time.
There was a bit of bother in the block next to me (block 10)...I assume it was a wob/akb thing.
I'm not sure what to make of it all tbh...it's the closest I've ever been to coming to blows with Arsenal fans (not going to call them Gooners). I've felt disconnected from the board, manager and players for years....but now I feel disconnected from the pricks that go and watch us as well. I used to consider us all family and back any Gooner up no matter what, now I think I might be done with it all

I know what you mean, to find out the people I have stood next to and sung with since the place opened were rabid AKBs to the point of singing one Arsene Wenger very vocifirously was a real eye opener. How anyone can sing his name after what he said just reaffirms the almost cult status he holds.silus wrote:On the 78th min protest I received a fair bit of abuse from people behind me and a few things being thrown in my direction...whenever I turned around no one would make eye contact with me. Exactly, well summed up my friend -cameron326 wrote:I still love Wenger in the guise of an Arsenal legend. I just can't stand this version 15 years on who seems like an excuse making impostor. I dont want a 40 year old Bergkamp up front for us, nor do I want a 50 year old David Seaman between the sticks. Those guys knew when to quit and their legend grew because of it. Stop shitting on your legacy AW. You were not a 4th placer, you were a winner, but those days are gone.
Today was truly a sad day for Arsenal Football Club but it is not the fans to blame. It's Kroenke and the Dictator formerly known as AW. You have to fear the worse for next season. He's not going to turn things around and its going to be an ugly parting when it finally comes.
I have supported this club since the 60's & have never been so depressed at this stage of any of the 60 or so seasons & that includes times when we were finishing well down the table. We may have to convince 'Big John' (Radford) to make a come back !, The 'Lazy Frenchman' is crap & must go.
Scum to get beat on Monday & all is rosy again.

Another completely and utterly woeful performance and appalling football on show.
Not a coincidence that Giroud has been shoehorned back into the side in the run-up to the Euros. Useless donkey.
Yet more embarrassment from Ramsey.

Got to say that chorus of TO1AW ( not been sung for ages previously) was fucking loud....they were prepared....singing loudly before protests we love Arsenal.....getting the crowd wound up it really was organised, and they were a majorityNickF wrote:I know what you mean, to find out the people I have stood next to and sung with since the place opened were rabid AKBs to the point of singing one Arsene Wenger very vocifirously was a real eye opener. Re: Arsenal v Norwich - Saturday 30th April 2016 @ 17:15pm
I was at the game yesterday, unlike most of the people on this forum. There were no more than 3 or 4 thousand protesters after 12 minutes and about 500 after 78. So I'd say about 10% max bearing in mind the approx 45k attendance. I think you are in danger of living in the online gooner/twitter bubble that thinks that the view on here is an accurate representation of what the average Arsenal going fan thinks. I think you'll find far more people are In favour of some kind of change but thought the crappy placard display was a pretty classless way of showing it. The singing in favour of AW was mostly an anti demo reaction than a ringing endorsement. Most of the long term season ticket holders like myself have seen rubbish performances over long spells in the the last 40 years and tend to have a more level headed outlook on the current situation. The change will happen more slowly than people on here would like, but will happen if we continue the current decline. I'd suggest AW will have one last season unless we fall outside the top 4 this season when I think he could go. Even the mild mannered will have had enough if more of the same is provided next year. I suggest if you want change you start putting your hands in your pocket to pay for a ticket to joint the protest brigade. As it stands the phrase 'Empty vessels make the most noise' resonates on here. As for people 'fronting up' others in the crowd, I think it's pathetic on both sides.

I spoke to a couple of them after the chorus of "to1aw" and said "well done...you may have just condemned us to 3 more years of this shit" they looked horrified and said "oh...you don't think he'll sign another contract do you?"......well, he probably will now you fucktards!!!Redarmy wrote:Got to say that chorus of TO1AW ( not been sung for ages previously) was fucking loud....they were prepared....singing loudly before protests we love Arsenal.....getting the crowd wound up it really was organised, and they were a majorityNickF wrote:I know what you mean, to find out the people I have stood next to and sung with since the place opened were rabid AKBs to the point of singing one Arsene Wenger very vocifirously was a real eye opener. Lets face it, the only thing that might turn the fanbase against le serial underachiever is if we drop out of the top four. Until then, the deluded majority will always be chanting To1aw.
Wake me up when that happens, otherwise rinse and repeat ad nauseum.

You are a perfect example of why Wenger is still there and will be for as long as he chooses. Acknowledge our decline and shit performances, but will keep finding excuses or another hurdle (like not making 4th) to justify continuing to back him, whilst denouncing any sort of protest as classless.milesgooner wrote:I was at the game yesterday, unlike most of the people on this forum. Oh and as for giving it the big '40 years', the demographic amongst those who want Wenger Out is hardly made up of kids - in fact most of the younger fans are the ones who worship at his altar as they are the ones who are unable to separate Arsenal Football Club and Arsene Wenger.
We were the third most successful club in England when he joined, not some fucking Mickey Mouse outfit who he has taken through the divisions. We had our fair share of shit football and barren periods as have every club including United, but nobody ever tried to badge those periods as a success and changes were made when things weren't working. We aren't making any serious effort to win titles any more - last season we were completely out of the title race before October had finished, ended up a healthy 12 points off the winners after they stepped off the gas and yet he goes out and doesn't sign a single outfield player because apparently nobody on the planet could be signed who would improve our squad.
The club is a fucking joke now where we have an untouchable dictator who is manager, de-facto director and just about everything he wants to be, and a board controlled by a majority shareholder who only cares about finances and padded out with clueless old farts who don't know a thing about football.
I hope you feel like you're getting value for money watching the same bottle-job every year and the fucking turgid football we are producing. Save yourself north of a grand and buy the Groundhog Day DVD to watch on weekends instead.

Didnt post in the thread pre match as i hadnt been online. If i had you all know what i wouldve posted
and after watching motd both teams were indeed shite and the game was a pile of shite.I was gutted to hear To1aw being belted out by the moronic masses
for me its as simple as this..ive wanted him gone since 2006 fuck sakes thats 10 years of wanting him gone,my dislike of him as a person has grown more and more as the time has went by.2 fa cup wins didnt dull my dislike of him, sure they were nice but not as enjoyable as they should have been. Our fanbase is firmly split into 2 groups..those of us wanting change for the good of our club and those scared of change who are devoted to le bumhole. How anyone can be in the group still for him is beyond me,they should be ashamed.

Great post NB123.
Realising there are a few of us who can see through the BS our club spouts, and the gullible modern fans seem to swallow, is the only thing that keeps the total apathy at bay.
Watching events unfold around our once great and proud FOOTBALL club is a bit like reading about an old fascist or communist state. Big lies being told and many believing it. I feel as though I'm part of an underground resistance movement sometimes.
