UEFA have no jurisdiction beyond the stadiums by their own admission.

Only in the sense that they have no legal power over citizens anywhere other than official UEFA venues.

Doesn't mean that they can't dole out punishments for fans' behaviour outside stadia.

This was all predicted four years ago in Poland and Ukraine but that passed peacefully. What's changed? Has European society really deteriorated that much in four years?

If I was speculating I would say that French towns and cities are somewhat more open with bars everywhere and large centres, making it more difficult to police. Certainly a lot easier to travel to for most than Ukraine. Slightly less stringent policing?

No coincidence that the worst trouble at major international tournaments in recent times (to my mind certainly) was 1998 and 2000 - all in north-west Europe.

Unreal! But this tournament really needs a good game to get it kickstarted

Are you having a laff ?? At what point do you think that it is reasonable to send the trouble makers home ? I seriously don't understand the mindset of people sometimes :?
Send who home though? - France, England and Russia troublemakers seem to be the biggest offenders so far, but it's only day 3! plenty of time for others to get involved!

The press should name and shame any England yobs caught on camera though. Shameful behaviour.
And now reports of German and Ukrainian hooligans....

Augie, is your "send them home" campaign a cheeky ploy to eliminate everyone bar Ireland?
We still wouldn't win it!

With a central defence of o'shea and Keogh, we still wouldn't keep a clean sheet

Agreed - Euros tend to be more boring as there is no South American flair or African teams throwing caution to the wind.

The European teams tend to be more cautious. If you take the home interest out of the Wales and England games yesterday they were pretty piss-poor games.

what do you mean troublemakers? you mean the fans chucking furniture around? the russians going after innocent fans with knives or the actual football team? in what way does the punishment fit the crime?

lets be honest, all it takes now is for some more french mobs to get together and steam into us, one of ours is gonna retaliate and we could end up with serious repercussions coming our way. there was trouble before croatia v turkey yet the media aren't interested in that, instead they're desperate to create outrage over the antics of our fans instead.

btw every nations fans boo each other's anthems, i'm sure you'll be hearing the welsh boo ours in a couple of days time....it's football, it's territorial.

I made this very point myself earlier in this thread - the English fans are now basically over a barrel and every other countries fans can incite them now knowing that they will be the one's who will be blamed. Lets be honest here though, and admit that SOME of that responsibility lies with the English fans who have misbehaved in the previous two days so they cannot claim to be innocent victims either.

To my mind when you talk about Russian hooligans, you are gone onto a whole new level - this is going to sound f.ucked up but there is some sense of honour with English hooligans in that they go into rucks ready to pound the shit out of the "foreigners" with their fists and boots, but the foreign hooligans don't get into fights unless they are tooled up and ready to end lives if needed/possible. Maybe that should also be a warning to the englsh hooligans who should think twice before going looking for trouble with these c.unts.

I know that when you were referring to "throwing furniture" you weren't trying to dismiss it completely, but at the same time I'm not sure you should cheapen it either - there are business people out there who are trying to earn a crust and hosting these championships should be a boost to these businesses but instead they are worried about having their premises wrecked. My in laws owned a chip shop for a few years, and near the end of that time a fight broke out between some of the locals and a group of pikeys who had been drinking in one of the local pubs - the place was wrecked and every pane of glass was smashed in the windows and doors, and not a word of a lie my wife's parents never got over it and couldn't sell the place quick enough. When we talk about innocent victims these people are innocent victims too but seem to be irrelevant to the hooligans

Lets put a couple of things right....

Russians hate all europeans - cannot comment

Russian Hooligans carrying knives, has anyone been reported as stabbed, these outbreaks have all been filmed and photographed has anyone seen any knives, i have not.

Do not think its there style they are trained at close combat and kick boxing, these lot do not need it up against overweight unfit drunk English hooligans

Saw one English guy try to put up a fight and was knocked down within seconds

But Its ok for English hooligans to vandalise and scare the local population, throw bottles at the Police and wreck bars, which is all filmed and documented

As someone that has been through years of both kickboxing and Krav training, I can say straight up that anyone that is properly trained in kickboxing, MMA, Krav or plain old hand to hand will make very quick work of some fat middle-aged drunk that throws a few loose punches. I've seen 5'2" 8 stone women that can throat punch a 14 stone bloke out cold in the blink of an eye. Many foreign hooligan scum do use knives (never saw so many knives as I did in Copenhagen against the Gala scum) but these Russian hooligans don't need to carry knives.

This is all making sense to me now. The Russians hate the EU, and this is the perfect time with a Brexit vote looming for them to further divide what is already a continent in political turmoil.

Those ultras (lets face it they where paramilitary) planned everything, they had uniforms and even wore gum shields. The plan was to target Black and Asian England fans with violence and racist abuse. There has been no severe condemnation from the Russian government, why is that?

I'll tell you why, its because they are loosely associated with these right wing groups. Large swathes of Russian society whilst they may not publicly agree, hold these extreme views.

This might seem a bit far fetched but trust me these people are the scum of the earth. This documentary is a bit long but it says a lot about Russian Society. I would be very surprised if there wasn't more trouble in Lille, not one Russian was arrested in Marseille. I was shocked when I watched this documentary, but you can't come to any other conclusion. This was more than a drunkard brawl.
