THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

What do you mean by "Get on his back?" exactly?
What! You crazy man? get on his back means barracking (within the socially acceptable way of course) - he doesn't deserve to still be manager of out Club mate - simple and like most Gooners and i mean Gooners - we've had enough of him. he's a broken man and not fit to manage our club anymore! as prev poster said something like "wenger out, wenger out etc"

I've said this before, if in my job i'd had the poor output/results/no trophies whatever you want to call it in the last 8 years like he has i'd be out of a job! if the same happened at man united he would have been out by now! I only hope he doesn't take the impending offer from our clown of a board to extend his contract - as they will offer him an extension! God help us if he accepts. whether we finish 4th, 5th or 3rd is irrelevant. he has to GO!

Why is there still debate raging over why RVP was sold?
The club. and specifically Wenger allowed the squad to deteriate to such an extent Van Persie, considering his age was never going to commit himself to another 4 years.
That, rather than wether to take the money for him or let him go for free this summer is the real reason, the gradual, steady decline in quality throughout the squad from 2 or 3 seasons before he departed.
I don't blame RVP for one moment, the vitriol should be directed at the man in the long coat, despite what he did in his first 7 years, he oversaw a period of decline where we slipped from serious title contenders to 4th spot scrappers along with Spurs. All the while not using the full extent of the available funds to strengthen the squad.
While on the subject, if we were on the back of a title or 2 and the odd cup win maybe Fabregas would have had an inclination to hang around. Just like RVP and Nasri, he saw what was going on as regards the squad and had it on his toes.

I mean, in the summer Chelsea wouldn't allow Essien ON LOAN to us because of who we are. Yet, Arsenal allow van Persie, at the top of his game, to sign for Man United.
I thought it was pretty clear cut. The move was initiated by VanJudas with his disgraceful public statement and ok'd by Wenger. Both to blame, but Wenger more so for allowing a deal with what should be our rival. :x
But why United? Were City and United actually the only teams who put in offers? Maybe the Juventus stuff was all talk.

Funny really because losing van Persie hasn't made us any worse off in the league really. We have pretty much the same points as last season at this stage and aren't really far off the same goals. Was he that valuable? :D

Ask Ferguson how valuable he was. In his interview he said "Arsene told me that he was a better player than I realised, and he was right".

All I can say to my fellow gooners is, direct.your.anger.at.wenger.gasidis.kroenke

I probably asked this question some 60 odd pages ago but hasnt this thread run it's course at this stage ? Those who are anti wenker are not gonna change and those that are pro the old *word censored* likewise will not change and by now both camps have expressed their opinions so asking the question still seems a bit redundant at this stage

It's not a relevant question thread anymore. It's just one central location for people to rant so we don't have 10 "fuck off Arsene" threads to mod. If you don't like that then fuck off and support a Formula 1 forum ya crunt!

'he's better than you think'
Wenger's friendly little bit of advice to old purple noise as the RVP deal was settled.
If any more incentive was needed for supporters to let Wenger know how they feel on Sunday, this is it.

Would make a nice ironic chant, to the tune of "He scores when he wants".

What stick if any will depend solely on the result, if we are going to lose, then I hope we are 3 or 4 down inside half an hour, this will leave plenty of time for fans to vent their anger.
If however it's a tight affair then I think the fans will be too nervous and too focused on getting a result, how the chavs and spud games have panned out will also have a big influence on fans mood.

We are the smallest "big club" around. If Wenger had been managing Bayern Munich for example, there will be no need for the board to sack him. The fans would have drove him out for his incompetence. Gooners are so forgiving.
