Elite how? You're not backing up any of your points.
!
If he was so elite Clyne wouldn't be ahead of him at SOTON. He has potential like so many before him who have never stepped up.

Your overrating would make a sportswriter for the Sun blush.
He was being rotated with Clyne last season. Neither was first choice.

Why don't you go to a Southampton forum and see what they think about him.

Again you are avoiding the question.

How is he elite?

I could read SOTON forums all day and I would struggle to find elite or world's best or similar phrases of the same bracket. He very well COULD be but right now he is just a young lad who needs to play more.

Furthermore, if he is as elite as you say he would keep Clyne out of the team.

Clyne got injured last season, that's why Chambers got a run in the team.

16m on a back up RB/CB when we are crying out for a DM and a top top striker?? You couldn't make it up. Fuck off Wonga you senile muppet, this is all about buying to sell. Nothing changes, I'm still amazed the old muppet can manage to get dressed in the morning, let alone 'manage' Arsene FC. WENGER OUT!!!

If Chambers is as talented and versatile as people say, could AW be considering as DM?

In fairness 1989, it must be easy for your mate to claim that shaw and chambers are the best full backs he has seen for southampton cos the competition is not exactly great is it ? For me, I think people look at the likes of the ox, wally and the monkey boy and assume that every young player to come from their set up is going to be great, but that doesnt work that way.

Chambers at that price is OTT imo and you have decided to pick just a few words from my comments instead of looking at it in full and in it's proper perspective - nobody has a problem with stockpiling talent but you have to do so over the whole squad and not just one or two positions. Buying chambers at that price is something you do AFTER you have strengthened the DM, keeper, cb and number 9 positions because right now the balance in our team is severely off. I absolutely accept that jenkinson is not good enough to be first choice, but I would rather have him as back up right full and use that 16m to go after a £30m DM like martinez instead of buying a £15m DM like schniderlein

His talent level is elite. Is that hard to understand?

Or do you think Wenger would spend £16m on some Average Joe? Because it would be just like him to do that?

Did you watch Chambers vs us in the 2-2 game last season? He was class. Immense work rate, technique and no nonsense tackling.

He can play RB, CB, DM, CM, LB and RM. Extremely versatile player. Could be our very own better version of Phil Jones.

Not a single person on here has ever bigged up Calum Chambers as a potential signing (and we've had thousands of pages of transfer shite  ) yet now we're about to sign him the sun suddenly starts shining out of his arse. I wish the lad the best obviously, I just hope he's cracked up to be all you imagine him to be.

@Augie, I cant agree with 2 comments you make, first you accuse AW of no "plan" then you say that Chambers should be bought after a DM etc.

However many players dont just hang around on the off chance that we will sign them, its hard to have a plan when you cannot predict who will necessarily become available.

Thus not many could have foreseen Sanchez becoming available, as Suarez wasnt thought to be going late into last season.

Likewise its hard to have foreseen that Saints would self destruct as they have.

It makes no sense to hang around while (We all hope...) tieing up negotiations over a DM and see others nip in for Chambers, no sense at all.

I know you see that we can just launch bids and get players, but for whatever reason that doesnt happen, and in fairness that seems the case for all bar Citeh Chavs Real and Barcawhore/ Bayern.

One comment you often hear about us is that we are difficult to play against as we dont play "to plan" its all unpredictable. Thats when we are at our best, we all love it when its like that, we are unplayable. . You cant have it both ways really, but either way a plan isnt coming very soon, frustrating as it is at times, and great at others. (Hope this makes some sort of sense)

Can I just point out that we haven't signed any of the players that have been mentioned other than Debuchy and Sanchez. Everything is just speculation at the moment. Just remember all the other signings 1989 has got his knickers in a twist over in the last few years.

Also Campbell has not been given a squad number, nor indeed has Djourou.

Why is the fee an issue for you Augie? Reality of the market is that a talented young English player goes for a premium price. We either accept that and roll with the times, or refuse and miss out on all the best English talent and have people moan about how our rivals have beat us to all of them. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Besides, is it your money??

Would be terrifying and disgraceful notion and would be yet more proof that the young unproven talent policy is still alive and well in arsene fc

Wenger has confirmed Ospina, and Chambers has done his medical already.

Theo, Bale, Ox, Shaw, Lovren, Lallana, Chambers, Schneiderlin, Ward-Prowse ............

Could we not just but their scouts and Academy?
