SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I think he's our best player. That alone will make a huge difference.
Of course it would help and everybody would love to see it but Wilshere having a good season will in itself have minimal impact on us closing the gap to what will presumably be a top 3 this season.

Why isn't Ian Wright being condemned as a traitor for his comments on Suarez? Yes they are true, it doesn't make sense to move to a club that can't even guarentee CL footy, but why tell him that? Money>>>>loyalty.

Are you for real? The bloke is only saying what half of the football fans in this country are thinking, and it's hardly going to factor into Suarez's decision. It's not even directly critical of the club - but because he used to play for Arsenal he therefore has to toe the party line and can't give a perfectly fair and valid assessment of things?

Wrighty had 7 amazing seasons with us where he banged in goal after goal, left everything out on the pitch every time he pulled on the jersey and understood and related to the fans in a way that it's impossible for any modern player to do. And you're accusing him of a lack of loyalty because he basically said he wouldn't make the same move? That is absolutely pathetic.

Think wht wright was trying to say was in terms of winning real trophies (not make believe trophies )why would suarez think (CL every season aside) coming to arsenal would change tht,hes only at the victims 3 yrs but has a league cup medal which is more than we have won in 8 years.

Unless suarez has fallen for the wow 17 years in a row in the cl but not winning it bullshit thts spouted by the wenger can do no wrong brigade

He should have said nothing at all. What does it accomplish? It's just selling a story to the scum for some quick cash. Its one thing to criticize the club for how we are run it's another thing to say 'hey don't go to Arsenal they are a small club'. It doesn't help, its pathetic.

He works in the media and is simply giving his honest opinion - I can't criticise him for that.

There's already too much conservatism in journalism as it is, with people falling over themselves to not say anything controversial in case they upset the fans/club/player/manager.

Most of them are up each others arses, and it makes for bland, boring - and pretty pointless - analysis. So even if I disagree with their opinion, I'd rather have honest and frank journalism any day!

I was waiting for the backlash for this.........

Wrighty's been saying similar things since Abramovich took over Chelsea, and he's right. We have been treading water at best for years and are no longer the first choice destination in London, FFS.

I don't understand how any ex-player who dares show the slightest crticism of the Arsenal is somehow being disloyal, we say far worse on here on a daily basis.

Arsenal need as many rockets from former legends as possible, it seems to be the only way the media pick up on any dissent as most Gooners as still loyal to the Coach of the Decade.

But it's not critcism is it? George Graham was on the radio yesterday and put it across that we needed to spend. It was well said, and he pointed out positives and negatives, while saying Wenger had to go into the amrket. Wrighty has come out with total nonsense.

That quotes about full backs is stupid, and to say 'Suarez shouldn't sign for Arsenal' is an idiotic thing to say as an ex-Arsenal man. It's the same thing he said to his son and look how that worked out.

He contradicts himself and its hyperbolic bollocks. By all means have a pop at Wenger and the lack of spending, but not in a manor that is ill thought out and quite disrespectful.

It's probably been said before but it bears repeating: I'd happily exchange Wanger not spending £1 this year if it meant he would leave at the end of his contract.
