As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

That's only their 2nd defeat in their last 12 home matches. Credit to us, we applied the pressure (as we should) and we got what we deserved. There's no luck about it, it's a willingness to win and passion to succeed.
Great performance.
i agree with this actually. They just drew with Chavs and have beat Man City there at Hull. We looked tired but we still showed champion quality. Did Man United look all skillfull and "champion" like when they had to have Macheda score a game winner last season?
Now lets get this straight. First half, good start, good goal. Theirs was offside, not a penalty but given , what can we do. Man sent off. Half time. This is where we should have already assumed unspoken authority, the one man advantage should have spurred us on till we got the goal and in my view, we worked it out. Without our best striker, best midfielder and best defender, we ground out a result that not many would have and have at this ground.(also without song who has become essential) . You looked at their home form it was brilliant. Even Chelsea could not win at hull.
I will take the three points, only hoping for a better performance from ARSHAVIN as I do not expect a good performance from bendtner ( i just expect goals). If arshavin had converted 2/4 chances , people would not be saying " oh diaby nasri blah blah need to take a long look at themselves". They performed just fine imo. Ofcourse you're gonna lose the ball at some stages of the game, its an away game the fans get frustrated with you holding the ball for so long.
After seeing the highlights again, I've seen some few weird decisions:
- How can the FA approve the pitch at the KC? these marking are awful to watch and they degrade the match experience for the viewers and all the participating parties (including the refs).
- At the penalty incident, the guy with the long name was offside, but if it was the first time the linesman had a bad decision, than it's forgivable, but it wasn't.
- Boateng should have been sent off twice by a straight red. First time he just put his hand on NB52 and Nicklas didn't do a thing but holding him off. If the ref had seen it, he should have sent Boateng off, and Nicklas should have never been booked.
The "tackle" on Sagna was worst than the Shawcross "tackle", it could have easily ended with another player's career at stake. should have been a straight red as well.
- I don't know what it is that make referees make so much bad decisions at Arsenal matches (sometimes it works in our favor as well), but something has to be done.
- Arshavin misses in the game wouldn't have shamed Super Nick. Yes, he scored a brilliant goal, but he needs to concentrate more (he had a similar miss against Porto). Hopefully, he'll do better next time.
- Why did Wenger take Eboue off? He was the best player on the pitch. If you want to bring on Walcott, why not move Eboue to the middle, and Diaby to the holding role?
- Denilson. Except from his ability to strike the ball outside the area, I can't see why is this boy a member in the Arsenal squad. He never won a challenge, he lost the ball more often than not, he doesn't contribute in attack. What does he do that makes him start a game ahead of Eastmond, for example?
- Eduardo didn't look like half the player he was, and where was Vela? I think both of them are off this summer.

I was fuming at half time, the half was a complete wind up, persistent fouling, stupid decisions, another pen turned down, a pen for them after a clear offside! it was a joke...another one of our players almost being snapped in half, one poked in the eye then booked...madness! and all they go on about was should Campbell have been sent off! oh piss off!!
second half we were dire for most of it, Diaby and Nasri were dreadful, we lacked imagination and looked tired...BUT WE DONE IT....THATS THE IMPORTANT BIT HERE...WE DONE IT!!
Super Nick with a good goal, that wasnt an easy finish, the ball pinged back at him and he controlled it home beautifully! Love the bloke as ive said before!
If we dont believe we can do it now after that we might aswell just piss off and forget it....Come on Gunners....we can do this!
Im so glad we got the winner, i hate Hull even more after today, what a negative bunch of filthy bastards!
COME ON YOU GUNNERS!!!! BELIEVE!!
Post of the day!
Superb post mate, good to see the usual moaners out!!! If that was United Sky Sports and the rest of the world would be cremaing in their pants! I read this thread and was embarrassed for some of the people posting and the rubbish they were putting, i did not know so many supporters were so bloody fickle - three games in a week, Bendtner has scored 4 goals - yes, he was a bit below par yesterday but he has played prettty much 3 lots of 90mins and has worked hard in all of them - if you have any ounce of football knowledge you will know that he cannot score in every game - when he doesnt he gets called every name under the sun by the same old people on here - you show yourselves right up!!
As for the "worst team to compete for the title quote" - Why dont you support your team? How about the fact that we have come back from the dead twice ths year? That we have scored more goals in the final ten minites than other teams? Or that our main (and best striker), as well as our most creative midifelder have missed a lot of games this year, yet we have scored over 100 goals this season? That we have won numerous games when everything was going against us? That there is only a handful of games this season where you can say we were really poor? Most other teams would kill to be where we are now, with the manager and players we have, and we have spent about 11p to do it - start living in the real world!!!! This team has fought to be where they are now, and they have done it with the press and some of their own supporters slating them at every single opportunity.
The best team over 38 games wins the league - it is as simple as that, it might be us, it might not - but i for one am going to enjoy the fact we are still in the race this week, il levae the usual fickle people to slag everything and everbody off. This time Last year people were moaning saying there was no way we would finish 4th - we did. This season there was no way we would be top 4 - we are. Now, there is no way we can win the league - yet we have a great chance? Seeing a pattern here? Im fucking proud to be an Arsenal supporter.

Great performance.
How about a reality check mate - we looked poor cos we were shit and had very very few players who can claim to have done themselves justice
You need luck to win anything so from that aspect winning a game that we scarcely deserved to win can be classed as somewhat fortunate but I will take that. The one thing that I will take issue with though is this notion that this togetherness and hard work is pulling us through - tonight we3 showed an awful lacking in workrate department and showed little or no courage in possession or in the tackle. We made a shit team, who have less football in them than your local pub team, look way better than they are and daiby, bedtner and nasri in particular should have a long look at themselves
OH FOR ONCE JUST SHUT UP WILL YA!!
So you think we played well then I guess Fact is that nasri hid, diaby and bedtner were so fcuking lazy it was a disgrace and you generally like to keep arshavin on even when he is quiet cos he is liable to pop up with 1 chance and bury it but some of his misses today were woeful. Denilson gets bucket loads of shit on here (some of it deserved I accept) but he is generally more commited and works harder than diaby who gets away practically scot free I dont give a fcuk who agree's or disagree's with me anytime and I will say that denilson put in more effort tonight than diaby and nasri combined whether that is en vogue or not
spot on fella
have you ever made a proper post on here? or just agreed with the regulars? BDB said in a different post the same thing and i had not realised it until then, all you do is say how they are right...when most of the time they actually arent....at least Augie has an opinion
I have over 1000 posts..yet i never get any replies to anything I do other than when i give something away......wonders who really is a Gooner on here....
We ain't going to steamroller every team and we aren't going to score 4/5 scores and play pretty football every week.
First half i thought we played fairly well and look dangerous at times, second half have to give credit to Hull.
Big game in the week so Hull always a possible tricky game.
Those that are posting the players should be flying all over the place etc.......what does that mean exactly.
Proper top players use there head to make the difference.
We are where are due to how we play, i see no need to change that.
At times i have thought the team lacked the heart and balls to do something...............i'm convinced that is NOT the case and i think they are a credit to the name of Arsenal Football Club.
Some may not be what i would want on the pitch, but i don't doubt there commitment.
I havent read through all this bickering and im not going to, im just going to add my points about the game. First half, i thought we started brightly. After we scored i thought we would score one or two more but it wasn't to be. The penalty incident, i had a near on perfect view. The striker in my eyes was never going to score, infact the ball was behind him when Sol made the challenge, however, it was very clumsy from Sol. I would have thought from his experience he would have read the situation slightly better. In the second half i was confident we would take the game to Hull and get the winner. Theo looked lively when he came on and caused Dawson a lot of problems. Then the goal, credit to Denilson for taking the shot, then well played Nic for being alert and alive to pounce on the rebound. Hull isnt an easy place to go as Chelsea found out a while back. So a good 3 points were brought back with us and im looking ahead to what should be another 3 points against West Ham.

Oh
Maybe starting a tit thread would help? - or be a sterotypical realist or rosetinter, and argue endlessly with those from the other side? that should do the trick
I often find that most of my middle ground posts get ignored, as there's little to argue with. It's the more extreme opinions that get most responses - and I don't think Swale will take offence if I suggest that him and Augie are alike in that respect; just at opposite ends of the scale.
what a relief, we are right in this title fight
1st half ~I thought we wr excellent, marriner weak and hull very cynical
their founds wound me up - one ryan shawcross, weird homoerotic fantasies about the ref+ our manager and we support our local team (dont think anyones accusing hull of being teeming with gloryhunters)
every second pass was followed by a foul - mendy, fagan + dawson should all have been booked for persistent fouling inside 20. scandalous.
we still put together some lovely stuff - arshavins goal was gorgeous and in the ten mins after we really should have killed the game
even from where we wr behind the goal JVoH looked offside (from the eggchaser markings on the pitch)
I thought live it should have been a red - shows the big advantage of having English/ex Engerlund players, IMO a less famous foriegner sees red there
(watched it on TV now and the ball's behind the dutchmans head so I think not an obv chance)
goal lifted them and we flagged a little - I thought denilson really held us together
I've slated him a lot but yesterday he was tracking his man, slowing them down and always available, gave the ball away very little
the others wr understandably tired from playing CK midweek
2nd half I thought hull wr awesome, defended brilliantly with 10 men
ultimately the mistake was overnegativity from tango IMO
once he took off dozy altidork and the biggest name in football they just got penned in
well done to Den for buying a ticket to the lottery
well done to super Nikky for following up
we went NUTS great great away performance
apart from their offside pen goal and few wee flashes from dozy they never threatened
ultimately I see that game as a rock solid away performance of a champion quality team
I'm going to every game for the rest of the season now
I love the balls on this side
(anyone hear that mug on 5live who reckoned he was a seasonticket holder but was cheering on hull...?)
also anyone see the psycho hull pensioner on his electric wheelchair trying to run down gooners after the game - classic
