Almunia made couple very good saves though, Wilshere gave ball away for their goal and not all keepers would have saved Ngog's shot.
Would rather have him than Fabianski, would rather have new keeper than Almunia.
Hard to say anything good about the game other than was relieved Wenger asked two central midfielders to sit deep, but we did not have a genuine defensive midfielder on the pitch and that is a huge concern.

Think it says volumes that up a man - and effectively two - that we needed to be gifted our equaliser and than when the match was there to be won still we couldn't get out of half but once really.
Thought Kos did well and showed a real appetite to play and too k a real beating but stayed strong till the second yellow. Chamakh didn't have a spectacular debut but it was his attacking the cross and keeper that made the own goal possible even(Bendtner never would have gone for or gotten near that one - that's his weakness relaltive to Chamakh).
Vermaelen played like a captain, thought Wilshere had a decent match but his experience caught him out badly at times most obviously on their goal. Clichy had a good first half and even one really decent effort on goal, but was horrific the second half. Arshavin had a good first 20 really minutes then disappeared. Diaby proved again he is not a defensive mid-fielder for me and then holes in the middle of the park when we were in Liverpool's half all too familiar. He did to be fair do better when he sat back in that role and won a few challanges and showed some of his skills gong forward as we chased the game.
Sagna wasn't anything special today though he was a bit stronger defensive than Clichy on the other side throughout. Eboue had adecent game just about. Of all the starters Nasri was clearly the best for me bar Vermaelen today, worked hard all day showed skill and intent but even then noit one real shot on target - again that says a lot.
The subs? Terrfice free kick by Theo but other than that and a lively start another poor performance. VanPersie probably should have started straight away but I'm not sure by his performance that he would have made the difference we'd like to think had he played from the first kick - not sharp at all. How odd that Rosicky a player barely able to contribute at all the last three years looked the closest thing to top player for us and more to the point was the only player who showed even hints of the attcking quality almost ever Arsenal player going forward had from 2001-2005 - so deserved a goal in his short time on and was unlucky that he dealt with Reina at his best on that shot.
As for Almunia - less said ther better. We all see and know it.
Overall very worrying. Even on top of them we created little or no real threat on their goal. Then when the match was all but handed to us we switched off instead and as aresult had to fight to get level and again never seriously threatened their goal till the last ten minutes and even our eqiualiser owed itself to good fortune though Chamakh clearly nade his luck there. But again with the match all but thrown back to us we switch off and are lucky to come home with anything. Couldn't complain if we came home with nothing honestly as that's just about what we deserved really, I'm afraid.

Well...that was an effort.
Chamakh did ok I feel, he was marked well by a tight Liverpool defence but it was Chamakh who really made the goal.
Kos did better than I through he would if I'm honest.
A point at Anfield should never be snubbed.
Lets hope we do better against Blackpool at the Grove next weekend.

I have not problem with the first half, but to lack control of the game when the opposition is down to 10men is shocking. Constantly losing the ball with little pressure on us, bad passing, Diaby fucking around.Bring Back Pires wrote:You reckon? I've been really negative about us this summer, but can definitely recognise that we certainly didn't deserve to lose this game. We bossed the first half with 60% possesion (despite minimal chances), and the goal was very much against the run of play. Did Liverpool have more than once chance after their goal? I think we very much deserved the point.GunnerDude wrote:You get out what you put in and we deserve nothing from this game. Against 10 men and it looked like we had 9 WTF!.
FFS we dint create a decent chance for long stretches of the 2nd half and we think our attack is great.
It says alot when people moan about Cesc not playing, as that just shows a lack of confidence in what we have and rightly so.

Today was a dissapointing start, what happened to us at half time??? We came out as wee seem to do so often at the start of the second half...half asleep.
We managed to pull off a lucky draw, but we seem to fall apart whenever we go behind...there is no real character out their to lead (thats going over old ground though).
Arshavin - For a man with no world cup, looked off the pace, far to relaxed in his style.
Nasri - Looked the most lively of the midfeild, pretty good start.
Clichy has got me a bit worried, id actually give gibbs a go against blackpool.
Sagna he made good forward runs, but his crossing was shocking.
Kochelney - good first game, harsh red card think he probaby needs to work on his upper body strength.
Rosicky looked really lively when he came on and his passing is far more cretive than diaby's.
Chamackh i thought was very dissapointing today. And saw very little that would make him better that say...bentdner.
The one real positive to come away from todays game is almunia's performace. This must highlight he isnt good enough.....anyone just see Merson rip into him on sky sports???....said what we all know unless we get a new keeper we'll never win the league.

The balance of the team was just completely wrongGunnerDude wrote:I have not problem with the first half, but to lack control of the game when the opposition is down to 10men is shocking. 1- Why was the retard Eboue playing on the wing? He offers feck all.
2- What fool plays Diaby, Wilshere and Nasri together as a midfield 3 away to Liverpool?

I'd love one Dirk Kuyt - works harder than all our attackers combined. Could do for us what Parlour did all those years and even bag a few more goals. People forget you need a few artisans to let the artists be artists. We have none now really. Even the players who could and should be artsans at Arsenal fancy themselves artists.selsdon wrote:If we had 11 Tommy V's on the pitch we'd be unstoppable.
And whose fault is this? The board's?USMartin wrote:I'd love one Dirk Kuyt - works harder than all our attackers combined. We've played better and got nothing.
Nothing worse than a defeat on opening day . Scouters looked a lot better
than they did for most of last season .
For us , onwards and hopefully upwards .

Eboue is registered as a RM on .com so not much is going to change there, and why he was shaking his head on the way off is beyond me considering he did fuckall.1989 wrote:The balance of the team was just completely wrongGunnerDude wrote:I have not problem with the first half, but to lack control of the game when the opposition is down to 10men is shocking. Everyone wanted Wilshere to start so there you go, plus Arsene would say Rosicky can't be in the same midfield with Nasri but they end up playing together in a 2man midfield at the end
