Your comment would make more sense if said that having players like Fabianski, Denilson, Eboue, Rosicky, Bendtner, Koscieny, Squillaci, Diaby, and Chamakh(whom I like actually) in a club like Arsenal"s senior team squad at all is not the thinking of a top manager.

Of course than comes the question why are they there now and why weren't they there from 1998-2005? Could it be the money we keep hearing is available to spend now was actually available to spend then?

So long as our finances remain what they are this is the ebst we can hope for - a holding action for the Champions League Place. No top manager besides the one under contract now would sign to manager Arsenal with the cureent financial policies in place unless their sole goal was a fat paycheck for themselves.

We have a really good half of a team - not as good as 2002 or 2004 no but not bad at all. Our problem remians that half the team is simply substandard now and underinvested in, even if some there are overpaid relative to their skills or experience(overpaying Denilson significantly still costs less than paying for a proper defensive central midifelder)

Please US we are all in pain without you heading down the road u seem intent on going.

Arshavin really should of wrapped things up midway through the second half

Yes we are and only road I'm intent on going down is the road that takes Arsenal forward I think that's road we all want Arsenal to take.

But if we want that is avoiding the problems the way to achieve it? Is blaming the manager unfairly and deluding ourselves into blieving it all will change the instant he's gone really best for Arsenal - or for us?

Is there a remote possibility that you might be able to comment on team performance/manager's team selection without mentioning fucking finances?

It's hard to fathom why the ref didn't give a penalty for the handball from Nasri's freekick. He couldn't of been in a better position - prick :x

For their 2nd goal we had all of our 11 players in the box???? :banghead:

9 of them right around the 6-yard box against 4 attackers :banghead:

I don't give a damn about the penalty not given. We screwed up and only have ourselves to blame.

Bit of a weird thing for Wenger to say 'no one organises' on set pieces. For fuck's sake, you've had 5 years to get someone in to do that.

50% of our goals conceded on set pieces. More than anyone else. Why isn't this being addressed? 4 times Chelsea had freekicks in the same spot. Scored from one. Score from the other 3 and its 4-3 despite how well we play. Criminal. And that would almost be bearable if we got any advantage from them in return.

Carling cup :barscarf:

In the game against Chelsea, Djourou was a rock in defense. What does Wenger do? Leave Djourou on the bench. Smart move Mr Wenger...just like how you took a winning formula and made 8 changes to it. Arsene Knows :banghead:

However we were trully and utterly robbed! Their penalty is one of the worst ref decision ever! No contact and not even in the box!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
The tackle on Walcott when he's in the box IS a penalty! And Nasri's free kick stopped by the defenders hand is blatant!!!!

The ref's decisions were utterly disgusting...

On another note we played poorly but I didn't expect anything better from our B team. Diaby, Denilson, Eboue, Bendtner, Rosicky, Kos... None of them are first teamers in my eyes.
Arshavin, despite his nice goal was sh*t! HE just doesn't seem to understand the team gameplay.
CHamack also has been a ghost for some time now. Absolutly no hold up play, and even Bendtner with his baby elephant touch seemed to keep the ball longer than chammy!!!
Diaby's cameo was something special. HE went back to shag the Nurse. Not sure Van Persie and ROsicky will appreciate this...
Finally there will be one day when our midfield will be clear of that poor excuse of a footballer who pretends to be Brazilian... I can't wait for this day to come along....

We were robbed ???

The only people that were robbed is the fans who continually pay membership and extortionate ticket prices, who buy overpriced club merchandise made in nike sweat shops, who continue to fill up the souless bowl almost 100% of the time but most of all the fans who pay big money to travel to shitholes like wigan only to see wenger treat them and the opposition with contempt........that is robbery

I understand where you're coming from Augie, and I agree with your point of view. As I said the team selection was awfull, and we didn't play well. However it is quite obvious that had the ref made the right decisions tonight Wigan would've scored only one goal and we would have scored maybe two more goals. IMO, and regardless of how poor we played, we deserved to win tonight.

There were games where we deserved nothing (Man Ure last to date) but today was not one of them. We fought hard on every ball and I just think tonight once again shows how naive we are defensively. On this specially I agree with you as tonight was another demonstration of how inept Arsene is when it come to tactics.

Wenger:

Overall, it was a difficult game with high levels of commitment from Wigan.

The pitch became more and more difficult for us to put passes together.

They defended deeper in the second half and it was more difficult for us to find space.

We had a disadvantage that Wigan played three days ago and only 48 hours ago we played a big game in the evening.
