The way to get their attention

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Metalheadz, could you perhaps help us with the legal issues?
Not really my bag. But I'm willing to invest some monies into the kitty, protest and help with any online promo. I think that online stuff is where we have to smash it.

I think the whole point is that this should not be a duplication of the Black Scarf group.

Below is my edit of SteveO's statement, which I think he has based on mine and then edited.

My take on it remains that this campaign is about making Wenger see common sense on the pitch, and realising our frustration with the likes of Denilson, Diaby, Rosicky etc rather than getting mired down in and sidetracked by shareholders and ownership.

Plus if you are going to launch an uncompromising campaign against the board (as I think Augie wants) you best be very prepared for people with a lot of money and a lot of connections to fight back hard.

Ticket prices are already covered by the existing fan groups.

The club are well aware of medical problems, no need for us to campaign on that.

Thoughts gratefully received.

Dear Arsenal fans,

Arsene Wenger has brought us great success as manager. He has not only won trophies, but revolutionised the culture of football, and produced teams who played some of the most attractive football the world has seen, something for which we as true supporters of Arsenal FC remain proud of.

We moved stadium in 2006, we fans understand that the move resulted in sensible structured debt. However, in taking the decision to move the club to its new home, we believe that since then the achievements of Arsenal have fallen short of the ambitions of the supporters, and we would hope too, the shareholders of the club. We understand that the stadium move was a necessary step in the progression of the modern Arsenal FC; the club itself stated that the move would allow Arsenal FC "to compete with Europe's elite clubs".

As lifelong supporters of the club, and ones that wish to leave a legacy for our grandchildren and their grandchildren, it is not in our interests to see Arsenal FC embark upon a strategy employed by certain other Premier League football clubs that would risk the future financial stability of our great club.

However, we believe that the current level of attainment being achieved and demonstrated by Arsenal FC is below the standard we would expect from a club with a stated desire to compete with Europe's elite clubs.

So we have formed this group with the following aims:

1.) To encourage the club to visibly invest in quality players, to allow Arsenal to compete for the major club competition trophies domestically and in Europe.

2.) To seek clarity over the club's youth policy, with particular regard to the policy of rewarding young players with long term contracts that have increased the club's annual wage bill yet not resulted in trophies.

3.) To understand the PLC's longer term vision and strategy. As supporters we have clear goals and ambitions, measured by winning trophies. As an organisation involved in various business sectors, but whose principle activity is a football club, we believe that this should also be the clear and measured objective of the PLC.

The below line of Steve's is a problem for me.

"We believe that the club's property interests and current shareholder structure are not in keeping with this strategy and vision."

1.) As far as I can tell, once the new housing at the South of the stadium is completed and sold, the club is as good as out of the property business anyway.

2.) Shareholder structure?

Do people really want to change this? How so? Have one big shareholder? Have a mass ownership such as at Barcelona?
Because if you start opening that can of worms I think it becomes a whole new campaign with different aims. One that can be covered by AISA and the AST. Can a campaign even change it. We would be taking on big business and so much energy would go into that the focus on players would be sidelined.

I go to the gym for a couple of hours and come back to a shit-storm. We need to not get ahead of ourselves. We have one crack at this, and need to get it right. This thread was set up so that we could brain-storm everything then go public. So let's just chill out a bit. 8) If we take 2 days, 2 weeks or 2 months to get everything sorted, fine.

For me, a large part of any protest needs to be about respect for the fans. We seem to be at the bottom of the food chain, and this needs to stop. The players repeatedly disrspect the away support by failing to acknowledge them (bar Eboue and Jack). This also covers the lies that we are told repeatedly about transfer targets, whilst season ticket prices rocket. The Club need to be honest with us. We were told that a move to the Emirates was to allow us to compete. It seems to have had the opposite effect. We need to be seen as fans, not customers.

We are the lifeblood of the Club.

I'll have a go at a mission statement tomorrow.

BTW - I think ArsenalFC not PLC, will get us into shit over Copyright.
Then we use the original none copyrighted logo and just write under it, The Arsenal, a football club not a plc. It becomes the logo for the group.

I'm no legal expert but we've contravened nothing that way have we...or have we :?
This one?
This is what they own;

I stick with what I said originally. Victory Through Harmony. It is an inclusive name, and does not alienate pro or anti Wenger / Board fans. The symbol can be the old Arsenal badge from the 80s, as the Club could not copyright this.

About time us as fans did something because that is the only way we can change things.

Look at the scousers the way they drove the yanks and later Woy out.

I think we simply want shareholders who are what they say they are, especially those on our Board. They insist all their actions are motivated purely by love for the club and that simply is either a lie or untrue take your pick.

I Suppose David Conn is full of crap too.

Let the Shareholders running the club now and in recent years state their ambitions and we can judge them from there as we wish.

Victory Through Harmony!

This is a group that will achieve its aims by doing things the right way, the Arsenal way. No mud-slinging, no in-fighting. We are united in our aims, and we will be united in our methods.
