[quote]Arsène Wenger says he will not try to sign Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou during the January transfer window.

The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a move to the Emirates, but the Arsenal manager rejected suggestions he could move for the 26-year-old.

Wenger also denies that he will try to add Manchester United youngster Ravel Morrison and Anderlecht striker Matias Suarez to his squad.

“Ravel Morrison at Man United? No. We know him well,â€

Andrey Arshavin is still an efficient player for Arsenal, according to Arsène Wenger.

The Russian star put in a solid shift against Leeds United in the FA Cup on Monday night, despite failing to get on the scoresheet.

Wenger believes that Arshavin's natural tendency to try and find the killer ball can affect his passing statistics but he insists that the 30-year-old is still delivering.

"He has always been a player who plays on the borderline, if you look at the game against QPR," said Wenger. "He is a big gambler, and at the end of the day he gave the ball to Robin van Persie to score in that game. So he is always efficient.

"If you look at his numbers you are always surprised at how good he is. Sometimes the visual impression you get from a game has been frustrating, but he is very efficient. We can all have a big responsibility but we need confidence for what we do."

Wenger intends to keep Arshavin at Emirates Stadium and he thinks confidence is the only thing standing between the Russian and his best form.

"We know he has the talent," said the manager. "He’s been questioned many times but his attitude has always been spot on.

"In the last game, specifically, he showed that he needs to play and needs confidence. He needs to play with confidence and freedom, that is his strength. He is a creative player and you need that fraction of belief and confidence to play with freedom."

am so glad to see the arsenal press conference bombarded with adulation and questions about tottenham, it was clear and unquestionable that wenger was riled and on the run from the sustained questioning about spurs. his dramatic defiance is a clear indication he is terrified of the prospect of finnishing 5th/behind spurs. this is an unparalelled event under wenger. he has now made it clear that signings are needed. wenger almost conceded that if signings are not made we will be 2nd in north london for years to come.

come on wenger get the cheque book/debit card out....PLEASE!!!

[quote]Arsène Wenger says Marouane Chamakh will not be sold during the January transfer window.

The striker is currently on international duty with Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations, a tournament co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea this year.

Chamakh has been linked with a move away from Emirates Stadium but Wenger expects his player to return to Arsenal next month.

“He is at the Africa Cup of Nations, nothing will happen there,â€

Yesterday on Sky, rather than saying that we weren't close at all to any signing (as he usually does), Wenger said we are a little closer. That's as good as an admission that we're about to sign someone imo.

Of course we all know that only Sammy and his mate know about the Goetze deal and that one is in the bag....but other than that
Second day in a row....not a single link to a transfer rumour on the BBC's bullshit thread. They've all given up on us

So the list of those believing that nobody will sign in the window has been extended to Offside.com

....just Sammy left as a believer then :D

Ghanaian media say Arsenal have offered a trial to Asante Kotoko's teenage left-back Baba Abdul Rahman. Interesting.

A Ghanaian team named Asante Kotoko? It's a step up from the Omani 2nd division I suppose.
