Going back to the article frank quoted on page 11 (from the hong kong times (or some paper like that ) the piece that stands out for me and doesnt seem to have been highlight is

Now I am sorry but surviving is not what this club should be about. This club is bigger than that and has a tradition of being one of the big clubs in england. It has a tradition of winning and competing for the big domestic prizes and just "surviving" shouldnt be a word that is even on the agenda Surviving is certainly not what the fans are paying the highest prices in season tickets for
