One for all the dreamers who think we'll be signing Zaha. Personally I'll be glad if this happens anyway:

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson could land Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha, 20, in the January transfer window by letting the £10m-rated winger spend the rest of the season on loan at Selhurst Park.

Agree 100% with you steve o - we have so many weak area's in our team these days that we simply cannot afford to spend 10m+ (minimum) on a player that might never be good enough. We need proven quality now and despite what tom fox says, I aint proud to be a club that spunks millions away on developing average kids every season

Zaha is a special talent and a mate of mine who's a ST holder at Palace can't stop raving about him. If Fergie gets hold of him the only losers will be ourselves.

So its all about opinions then. I've got Palace supporting mates who watch him every week as well and reckon that he is far from the finished article and a bit of a showpony, especially in recent weeks. Looking at a few bits of action here and there he looks like a stepover king - something that reminds of Helder and Vela.

We don't need a young wide player and we especially don't need to waste all of our budget on one given the state of the squad in other areas - centre forward and keeper for a start

Ronaldo too was a bit of a showpony... not saying Zaha will become as good as Ronaldo but his potential is massive. We've got the money, and we've in the past spent big on youngsters who weren't as proven as Zaha currently is (Walcott, Ox) so I don't see a problem in spending what's needed to bring him here.

1. He's a million times better than Forehead
2. He can get better
3. He's English and a gooner to boot

That said we should focus more on other positions as you said (striker, defensive midfielder, goalkeeper and left back).

What does he have to compare him too? I remember Palace fans talking up what a great player John Bostock was going to turn into. A Blackburn supporting mate also said Phil Jones was without doubt one of the best players in the league. At a bigger club, he's exposed as a reckless headless chicken.

We all know we won't spend more than a certain amount overall, if we sign him it's taking away the opportunity from other positions which we need desperately. Wouldn't mind signing him but not at the cost of Huntelaar and other reinforcements, which it inevitably will be.

It wouldn't surprise me if Fergie went in for Zaha just to take him away from us as we swiped Ox.

Also, if we signed a 'keeper (Mickael Landreau is on a free right now, decent 'keeper), Huntelaar and Zaha I'd be happy(ish)

There are players in the Blue Square South who fulfill those three criteria but I don't want any of them either

We have far bigger priorities than Zaha. We've already got the Ox in the "promising wide man" category, whilst in goal we've got Billy Bigbollocks and a couple of jokers and up front the white Emile Heskey. Sort those positions first if we have any ambition of competing and then worry about Zaha afterwards

I doubt Ferguson even gives us much of a second thought these days tbh, never mind wasting £10m+ just to spite us.
