BBC Website:

Arsenal have had a £17.6m bid rejected for Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado, 29, but the Serie A champions are looking for about £30m for the former Chelsea player. (Sun)

The Gunners have also made a £10.5m bid for Fenerbahce centre-back Simon Kjaer, 28, who is also wanted by city rivals AC and Inter Milan. (Turksvoetbal - in Turkish)

Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal, 31, says he is "almost certain" fellow full-back Hector Bellerin, 22, will stay at the club next season amid interest from Barcelona. (Evening Standard)

Cuadrado !! Please tell me that this isn't true. Worryingly, given out track record, it's one of the few rumours that probably is true.

He's a perfect fit....rejected by Chelsea, not making the grade at Juve, where he's not generally a starter and above all, no fucking good. When I watch Cuadrado play, I see Gervinho

Mind you, I'm sure Il Duce sees him as the perfect replacement for Sanchez.

Arsenal will go back to Lyon with an improved bid of close to £50m for France striker Alexandre Lacazette, 26. The Gunners had a £30m offer rejected last summer. (Daily Telegraph)

Loving how much we're nearly signing Lacazette - we must be edging closer to the maximum amount Lyon won't accept for him now. Its the new Higuaín !

Alexandre Lacazette, France's very own Darren Bent. Scores enough goals for a nothing team to look interesting to other teams, valued way above his actual worth and not wanted by anyone decent. Played a few games for the national side, but will never be anywhere good enough to be a regular. Average, over-priced, wanted by nobody else, plays in the French league, a completely unimaginative and thoughtless signing, perfect for us then.

Tend to agree. We have so few potential young players coming through that we have no base for the future. We are having to scrabble around and pay over the odds even for the average to good players.

But it gets better!

Not only is he pretty average but he is Sanchez replacement.

Yep. Let's spunk 50 million quid up against the wall to replace Giroud......on the geezer deemed not good enough to oust him from the national team.

I'd prefer if Lacazette stayed in the "I nearly signed him" XI thank you very much.

Really find myself not getting bothered about which unrealistic targets or journeymen we are being linked with this window.

It simply does not fucking matter one jot. We will be good enough to be in and around top 4 but nowhere near title whoever we sign.

This 100% ^^ We have seen the level of the clubs ambition, and under the current regime it will never change. :banghead:

More "top top super quality" on its way lads....

Arsenal are set to beat Everton to the £18m signing of Sander Berge, a 19-year-old Norwegian midfielder who plays for Belgian club Genk. (Sunday Mirror)
