As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
I feel a mite hestitant commenting on this rumour but that hasn't stopped me before, so here goes.
Assuming this rumour's got legs, why the hell would Barca want him, especially a such an exorbitant fee? They already have converted Mascherano to centre-half and also have Shakira's boyfriend so would he play there? Can't see it.
If they want him for the midfield then I know the peerless Xavi's getting on but he would have Fabregas, Iniesta, Busquets (spit) and, to a lesser extent, Pedro to displace. Even then there is Thiago Alcantara and no doubt some others too.
At best he'd be a utility back-up player but I can't get my head around paying so much for such a player when they only just found the cash for Fabregas (and I know we were rinsed on that deal).
Mind you, they're welcome to him as it would allow us to bring in a quality replacement or, more likely, bank the cash.

Mex and match: Arsenal to swap Bendtner for AC Milan defender Mexes (report)
Italian media claim deal is being cooked up between Gunners and Serie A giants - Milan get spare Dane, Arsenal will take France star...
The Italian press are reportedly suggesting that Arsenal are in talks to land a shock swap deal with AC Milan – trading Nicklas Bendtner for France defender Philippe Mexes.
The 30-year-old Mexes has reportedly had parting of the ways with Milan, and has been training on his lonesome after quitting the club's pre-season tour of the USA to be with his pregnant wife.
Sports newspaper Corriere dello Sport claims that the 'bust-up' has been the driving force behind the swap talks with Arsenal.
France national coach Didier Deschamps is reported to have already hinted that Mexes's future is outside of Serie A. Deschamps said: “I know Philippe well and he is part of the wider France squad. What is happening to him? I don’t know if he will leave Milan, as there is a particular situation going on with his club.”
It's a stroke of luck for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger who has been looking to get shot of Bendtner for some time. The difficult Dane spent last season on loan at Sunderland.
AC MIlan are in the process of trying to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic and it's possible that Bendtner fits the hole the Swede left behind.
The chance to offload Mexes is said to appeal on the grounds that he is trousering 4.5million euros a year in wages.
It would continue a crazy summer of acquisition by Arsene Wenger's standards, with a rash of major signings capped by Santi Cazorla's trasnfer last week – with it now looking slightly more likely that Robin van Persie will stay, in the short term at least.
Compared to Bendtner, Mexes is overpaid I think he is on 86k Euros a week. I would still do the swap though. But as Mexes is 30 I wouldn't give him a long contract.
