As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

According to Barca's vice-president, he is not for sale:
"He's not for sale," he told El Mercurio. "We are confident in his ability. It is speculated so much that he might leave, but there is nothing - no formal offers have arrived for the player and he will remain here.
"We are pleased with his performances and we will not put him on the market."
But they've got Messi, Neymar, Pedro and Tello up front, also Cesc is capable of playing up front so I can see them letting him go for a decent price.
Wouldn't be a bad signing, he's only 24 and has plenty of experience but he's more of a forward than a striker. So I'm not sure if we could depend on him to score goals on a regular basis.
alexis is good and I would certainly take him, and I just cannot see how he will get any telling game time at barca considering who they have up front.
I think him being a "forward" as opposed to a "striker" would probably make him a more attractive proposition to Wenger (obviously still talking in the hypothetical here). With his rigid allegiance to the 4-5-1, I imagine Wenger's refusal to pay for Higuain but willingness to bid far more for Suarez has quite a lot to do with the fact he can be farmed out to left wing and it won't 'kill' Giroud.

Logical to look off versatility
We're never going to be versatile while we play 1 up front and the same tactics 38 PL games a season. You can shift so-and-so here and there but I think all dreams of versatility go up in smoke when your manager brazenly admits he doesn't change tactics based on opposition.
Versatility is vital, but in the right areas. We don't need a versatile striker, we need somebody who can put the ball in the back of the net and keep doing that until we fucking win something. Just like we don't need technical CBs that Wenger craves.
For example, I'm not Wally's biggest fan but I do think that in certain games - notably those against relegation fodder - he's not a bad choice to play up front. But it's ridiculous that when we face Crystal Palace at home we don't have the option of playing him up front in a 4-4-2 where he would have a field day - it's either lone striker (a role he can't play) or not at all.
So looks like the Camel and forehead are leaving yes very average players at best but with fuck all to replace them are we better to have them in the sqaud as it looking thinner than a Anorexic Model .
I am at a loss as eveyone else what we are doing Arsenal the players the media the fans all say the same we need good new players and yes that cost money but the manager and board just do the oppsite something as to happen quickly or we are going the same way as the victims but at least they have the balls to change the manager .
Even the down the road have spent over 50 mill but heil Wenger just goes blind and says not much movement in the market this getting bad to the ridiculous
Where does that leave us, SteveO? - Cisse, perhaps?? .... oh God, that actually seems plausible
On fcuking loan too I still think that remy along with a top quality striker purchase would have us in great nick up front for the season. For me giroud is your Plan B option ie someone to throw on when you need a big fcuker to aim the long balls at but he is not good enough to be a starting 11 player for us. Remy, especially with no transfer fee, would be a good no risk deal for the season and if he proves himself good enough then sign him up properly next summer and if he doesn't, then send him back to the twitcher
Still, cannot for the life of me, understand how we haven't gone in for cesar - qpr want rid (he is on the bench behind Robert fcuking green for gods sake) and after flaps display on Saturday, it is abundantly clear that we need to sign a proper keeper. Again, befitting of modern day AFC policy, the guy is available for a cheap fee so it wouldn't affect our transfer kitty much either - I know that he is meant to be on 70k per week but after getting shot of the deadwood this summer, we can surely meet those demands without much trouble ?
This guy was released by Schalke last year. Great....that world class signing that we needed.
The man has to go...
Comical
I know that it might well be a bullshit rumour put out by the players agent in an attempt to drum up some interest, but given wenker's past dealings would any of us rule out this deal ?
