The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'll get me coat.
Unbelievable, unconceivable...........

and that's a FACT ya !
It's Tricky to get signings done on time...but if we brought in Vidal to play next to Ramsey that could be Perfection?
In who's house will that work then. :rubchin:

I suppose if it's like that then that's the way it is.
Signing DMC will raise our Profile, let's hope he is an all time great, we could do with some New Faces In the House, though I wonder what new kit manufacturers Puma will make of his Adidas  Maybe add to the squad by signing Johnny Russell, rush signing though it would be if it was close to the deadline we might get ourselves into a jam, Master Jay Simpson could even be brought back as a squad player?

Sounds like a silly question but didn't the legal team think about tryin to sort this out before. Or tell him to report on Friday...at 100k a week I'm sure he can forgo a day of hols. Not the best start but at least he's here unloike our 3 WC winners who won't be for another few weeks.

Since 2008 we've all been crying out for 1st team strengthening, and it's finally happening. Yes we need some cohones in midfield, but to mention Pat Howard and Terry Mancini FFS! Ozil and Sanchez will be top drawer for us this season. I still have issues with Wenger, and think he should have gone two years ago, but I'm prepared to look at this season with some optimism. This place can get seriously depressing at times!
It's like some enjoy being miserable fuckers on here. We'd sign Messi tomorrow and I guarantee they'd have something to moan about it.
Oh I didn't realise we had signed a proper striker (not a winger) a dm and a cb. You know, strengthening the main priorities of the team.
Wenger says Alexis is a striker. You wanna argue with him?

Would fcuking love to - you name the time and the place and I will be there (will guarantee you that we will need a new manager after that meeting 8) )
Nah would rather not. I don't want to get done for abetting murder.

I have no doubt Sanchez will do well but the vast majority of his career has been spent as a winger. We have been crying out for a natural world class striker and not more square pegs in round holes.
Untrue - you have clearly not done your research. Sánchez played/plays through the middle for Udinese and Chile. Only at Barca has he been stuck out on the wing because of Messi. That excites me even more because Alexis hadn't shown his full potential at Barca due to not being used in his best role. Here he will be.

Jeez jeez jeez, this is the best transfer window for some while, why are some Gooners so bloody miserable.

Sanchez is fantastic, Ospina brilliant, Chambers looks good (Early days I know...) Debuchy probably a pretty solid signing. OK I know a DM is vital but theres a fair bit of time left. Wonder what it is that seems to have made better transfers happen this year so far :?

More funds available, the FA Cup win, signing Ozil last season which helps attract other top talent like Sanchez, and Wenger realizing he's nearing the end of his career - perhaps he wants to win another PL/give the CL a real go before retiring?

Think Chambers has been bought to eventually be guided into a Flamini type midfield role next to Ramsey, with right-back as an option rather than a main aim.

Am absolutely gobsmacked that the club havent sorted this out yet  Pre season is huge for any new signing but especially so for one who is coming in from another country and needs to get used to a new "system" and new team-mates. Going away for training camps is obviously very important for fitness but is also great for building team morale and sanchez should be there pure and simple. I would also have thought that he himself should have been keen to be at training camp as well so it is really poor form all round for the club and player here :(

So another purchase for the long term but also another purchase where we are gonna take a player from his usual position and then train him to play in another position ? Can we not just buy players to play in the positions that they impressed in before we bought them ? :x

I'm not sure why you struggle so much with the modern game! He's clearly a versatile player. We get injuries, so having players that can play multiple positions is hardly a bad idea.

You music snub you :-P

The Casillas story is not going away. Bild are reporting it this morning. They could be rehashing old stuff but after a few days seems odd.

Would we really be mad enough to have 3 keepers all of whom could be no 1s. Talk about appetite for destruction... There you go Db...what's wrong with a bit of rock.

Probably me putting 2+2 together to make 5 but Santi looked detached in that game on Saturday night, wonder if he wouldn't mind going back home to Atletico. He's 30 and Atletico would still give us £20million for him, which can be spent on a 22yr old Costa and for once we wouldn't have to throw him in at the deep end as Ozil can then take up his favoured position whilst Costa beds in and becomes from a good sub to 1st team regular.

Again I stress this is just my Monday morning imaginings,Santi has not made any noises about leaving but this wouldn't be the worst series of transfers that we can do would it?
