As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

All necessary is already said about our transfers already here, but I have to add that I'm very pleased on how things are moving on during this summer - even if I haven't forgiven the fact that we didn't sign Cesc
I'm worried that we haven't signed DM yet and most of the rumors has died away. If we signed holding DM I think it's safe to say that we've gone forward as a club during this summer but if we don't it leaves big question mark on our chances next season.
As for Jenko, I'm very sad that he is leaving. He wont be sold though but loaned out at least for one season, most probably to West Ham. The fact is however that he isn't good enough for this club at the moment and he'll need regular first team football to develop his game. Jenko has been kind of "special" Arsenal player for me as he is half Finnish.
There is also another aspect regarding his career that you guys won't care much about probably. That is his future international career in national team. The thing is that he played in Finland U19 and during that time Finland national team was very realistic option for him and Team England quite distant possibility.
Then he moved to Arsenal and suddenly Team England was more and more realistic for him and he did choose England over Finland when he got the chance. There is no suprise in this as he is born and raised in England and lived there whole his life. And of course Finnish football is utter shit and he wouldn't probably want to embarrass himself playing for us anyway
Anyway, he can't play in Finnish national team anymore and what his possible Arsenal career end will do to his chances to play in English national team. Of course, he is still very young and anything can happen but obviously going to Hammers of Hull won't do any good to his international career.
Too bloody right. We haven't messed around in the transfer market, it's nice to hear an objective view rather than the constant agenda fuelled whingeing.
Perhaps one more signing a DM would be good. But one things for sure, having chatted with fans of other clubs, they think we will do well this season. Could it be that finally, that the shackles of building a new stadium has been removed.
What will be nice in a few weeks time, will be seeing the plaque that shows the FA cup winners 2014 at the emirates.
Van Gaal can go fuck himself if he thinks he can push that overrated Rinaldo wannabe our way.
Re a new striker - if rumours are to be true, Douglas Costa comes in with Campbell going out to Milan on loan would mean Alexis is CF as Douglas is a RWer.
I agree that the transfers appear to have been concluded quicker this summer but I dont see how we are much better off than last season.
DEBUCHY - replaces Sagna. An upgrade? I don't see much difference tbh
CHAMBERS - a back up for Debuchy. an improvement on Jenkinson? Probably
OSPINA - a replacement for Fabianski. An improvement? Probably but then again Fabianski did win us the FA Cup last season
SANCHEZ - I am still not sure where he will be played. Yes he appears to be quite good but unless he is able to provide proper competition for Giroud then he is just another player we have got in an attacking midfield role. If he can be that out and out striker that we need then it is a good buy
but we still need a proper CB (hoping that Chambers can be converted is a bit worrying) and a proper DM.
if we address those 2 positions we might be able to challenge, but there is no chance if we don't.
A quality DM would be a HUGE signing and I would suggest that it would prove to be a better and more important signing than sanchez You never get all the players bought and positions improved that you want but if we signed a top quality DM then I would be quite happy with the summer business even if we went on to sell cazorla. The problem at that point though, is that we would now have a quality squad capable of competing for the league (champs lge too high for us) so any/all shortcomings will be at the door of the tactically inept manager - I would go so far as to say that if we signed a top quality DM then any tactically clued in manager could lead us to the title again
Btw I would still like to see a better striker than giroud, plus the centre back position would still be a concern

All of them are clear upgrades with the possible exception of Debuchy.
Have to say that I am surprised by the lack of interest from any club in haangaland (sp ) - am not saying that he is top quality or anything but there are several clubs (like our own) who need back up centre halves, and several more (like manure) who need first choice centre halves and I would think that he is better than either evans or jones at manure. I know many on here wanted us to sign him a season or two ago and at the time I was against it cos I thought that we could do better for first choice centre back, but I would be quite comfortable buying him now as back up to BFG

I see what you mean but don't you agree that on Arsenal terms we have been much better in transfers compared to many past summers? And I compare only our own transfer activity during past summers, not to any other PL club. I even dare to call that an improvement, on our own terms of course and not comparing any other club.
Signings that we've done this far are good, especially Alexis. At least I'm very happy with these signings, it could be worse you know as it has been some many times before.
BUT, now it is absolutely essential to sign DM. Otherwise none of these already done signings matters fuck all I'm afraid. None of them can't or could have avoid those murders we got last season and will have again if this area isn't reinforced.

Yes, I was actually thinking about this also couple of days ago when I got lost to one Norwegian newspapers internet site. There were some Arsenal related rumors and Hangeland popped into my mind.
He is big and quite comfortable with ball. He isn't anything special of course but solid and basic CB. I would take him as a back up for sure.
