The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Bit rich considering Ozil hasn't even got a patch on Pires, himself.

I was told a long time ago by the guy who told me about Alexis that Gazidis was keeping funds in reserve for use IF Cavani became available

No chance of Cavani. As silly a rumor as it gets.

How would you feel if somebody told you you had to move to Spurs :|

But seriously looks like toys out the pram because they're putting up a bit of a fight to keep him and not letting him wander off as easily as his mates. Horrific unprofessionalism.

Fcuk that - if I was a decent player at Southampton then I would be out of there any way I could. Being honest I don't even think it would matter who I joined cos I would at least be comforted in the knowledge that I was leaving a club that was being put together for the first time - a new manager and replacing 5 of their best players is like starting with a blank canvas and that is gonna take a long time to sort out. The negative implications on their rep is massive and any decent player will want out and no decent player will want to join them :(
Agreed but he shouldn't be airing his dirty laundry in public. Keep it in house.

I would be gutted if he joins them lot as he's a quality player who would definitely improve them. So would Jay Rodriguez although whether he can return to his previous form following his ACL injury remains to be seen.

Not a chance, he was bombed out because he was disruptive.

He was shit too, got a few assists but his job was to defend the defence not look for glory.

Cringe when I see people big him up, silly fouls, leaving the defemce exposed, trying to be the star, yeah, top player (thats why hes gone to shit, big clue right there)
Absolutely. He is total garbage and only a complete moron would think otherwise.
The only good thing he ever did was mistakenly believe the La Liga trophy was being presented to him - champagne comedy!

We'll give Giroud a new contract, that surely counts as signing a striker, right?

I would fcuking love it if we got martinez - fcuking love it 8) He is exactly what we need and at this age he has his best years ahead of him - of course there is a bigger chance of me winning the euromillions than there is of us signing him, but a man can dream I suppose :(

Lol come on mate, we signed two higher profile players in Özil and Sánchez already.

If Martinez is available we have every chance of getting him.

I would suggest if he is your age then his best years were back in the Great War kicking a ball about on no-mans land on Christmas Day
