Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
Cannot really understand Mourinho's thinking in selling Lukakau unless there is someone else lined up?
Up front they have -
Costa - not Premiership experience, but should be very good.
Torres - plenty of experience but about a 10 or 12 goal per season man these days.
Schurrle - experienced and good but again, a 10 goal per season man, though he does play out wide at times too.
Drogba - He is 36. Useful as an impact sub and possibly as a coach but how many games can he play?
Cesc, Oscar, Willian and Hazard will chip in with a respectable amount of goals for midfielders, but an injury to Costa and the lack of cutting edge that cost them the league this season could happen all over again.

Not in the PL, his league goal return since being at Chelsea:QuartzGooner wrote:Cannot really understand Mourinho's thinking in selling Lukakau unless there is someone else lined up?

10/11 - 1 goal
11/12 - 6 goals
12/13 - 8 goals
13/14 - 5 goals
I've never seen such a drastic decline happen to a once good player, abysmally pathetic.
Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
I used to think how good he could have been for us had we bought him. Our style would have suited him much better. It's a bad mix when you're on shocking form playing ugly negative football with Chelsea.VAVAVOOM 14 wrote:Not in the PL, his league goal return since being at Chelsea:QuartzGooner wrote:Cannot really understand Mourinho's thinking in selling Lukakau unless there is someone else lined up?

Vava
Torres 10 or 12 overall though, probably pick up a few in the domestic cups, perhaps one in the Champions League too?
Injury has left him a shadow of the player he was a few years ago.

Personally I would rather have lukakau as our centre forward than giroud - neither are top quality tbh, but lukakau has more mobility imo

Chelsea wont get a penny for selling Torres. He's past it, injury prone, old and on 200k a week. Free transfer I bet.

But a first touch which is worse than Giroud's, believe me that takes some doing. Giroud's hold up play is better.
If you could guarantee Benteke would come back the same player,I would pay for him over either Olivier or Lukaku.
Good hold up play, good first touch, can run, takes a mean penalty,an excellent header of the ball in both boxes. Benteke is why Belgium came home early.

One thing is for certain - playing as a back at the Hammers this season will give him HEAPS of experience.Ed Hunter The Gooner wrote:Big Sam has confirmed that West Ham is close to loan deal for Jenko and that the deal could be wrapped up during next 24 hours. Hopefully this goes as planned and Carl gets proper chance to prove himself in PL...
Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
The numbers out on loan from Chelsea are ridiculous. They basically use loans like the property market. Just buying to let. Vitesse are just used as a shop window - I think it was last year they had about 5 or 6 Chelsea players on loan.northbank123 wrote:The loan system is a farce. At one point towards the end of last season I decided to check how many players Chelsea had out on loan - 28. Literally more than you're allowed to register for a PL or CL squad. A huge number of those are talented young players they signed and will never ever play. FFS they signed Hazard's brother just to appease him and have loaned him out for 3 seasons now. Chelsea are not alone in this but they are by far the worst - they stockpile young talent and these talented players end up being sold at 24 with no top level experience. How Greg Dyke can get banging on about B leagues and close his eyes to this impediment is beyond me.kiwomya wrote:That's what makes me laugh with loan deals these days. Everton have had to pay £28M to stand still and keep a player they had last season. You should never get so reliant on loan players, especially not a top 10 Premier League team.
On the other side of the coin you have clubs like us who have taken players on a season-long loan. Huge financial resources, a massive playing squad and pool of academy players - how can you justify long-term loans for Viviano, Kallstrom, Benayoun, etc? Going after Demba Ba on 31st August last year was embarrassing transfer business but the mere concept of Chelsea loaning Arsenal a player for a whole season is absurd.
I see your point about Arsenal but I do think, for us, it was more to add experienced cover at short notice. As well, Benayoun played more for us than he would of at Chelsea, for example. I don't see a massive problem in taking a player like that. You would expect a club of Arsenal's calibre to not need loan signings but then again I read that PSG have taken Serge Aurier on loan... what a fucking joke!

Oh and trying to sign Demba Ba was embarrassing by itself, let alone trying to take him on loan.

From F365 transfer blog:
Steven Gerrard says he told Luis Suarez not to join Arsenal last summer because he felt the striker was too good for them.
"His dream all along from the first day he came was to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona," said Gerrard
"Last summer when he was out in the cold and training on his own that's the conversation I had with him. I said, 'Don't go to Arsenal'.
"With all due respect to them, I said to him that he was too good for Arsenal.

Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
In other news, Chilean source El Mercurio claims that Vidal to ManU deal is done. Apparently 200k a week deal has been agreed medical has been passed...
If true, this will be massive transfer for them. They seem to start their business from the key area what we should do also...
EDIT: Here is Metro also reporting the same... http://metro.co.uk/2014/07/31/arturo-vi ... r-4816232/
