Ive been saying for months now that Barcelona and Spain bore the shit out of me, in fact i made a thread about it and got roundly slated. Its my opinion of course but they really do bore the shit out of me and because of this it doesnt mean i should fuck off to Stoke there is a middle ground which is fast, flowing football not the stagnent, tippy tappy shit and not the hoof it long of the two ends of the scale.Henry Norris 1913 wrote:he's got a point, the people that are complaining about the way spain play probalby go nuts for pulis stoke and how anti-football they are.
it's the culture of the modern football fan, moan about everything, even stuff which you moaned for earlier on. fuck them, spain are a fucking great side, like we played great football in the tournament?

Exactly. This "either or" stupidity shits me off, as if you have to love the tippy tappy or you have to love the Stoke style shite.flash gunner wrote:Ive been saying for months now that Barcelona and Spain bore the shit out of me, in fact i made a thread about it and got roundly slated. Tippy tappy is boring as fuck unless done at high speed and whilst attacking. Spain bore me. Barcelona bore me. the current Arsenal bore me. "Hey look!! 28 passes back and forward across the midfield and we still haven't gotten within 30 yards of the oppo goal!! Yippee!!"

The happy middle ground was The Arsenal in 2002 and 2004. High level of technical football, tight accurate passing, the ability to absolutely rampage forward at pace and hit the fuck out of teams on the counter. THAT was beautiful, exciting, entertaining football. Fucking LOVED watching it.

Arsenal are taking a battering at this tournament.
Not only have our players been generally average to shite, our name is being bandied around with every negative connotation...heard these two...
Spain pass, pass, pass and you just want them to shoot. It's like Arsenal.
and today...
Germany are the Arsenal of international football.

The final is going to be a divefest. They should just stick a fucking swimming pool and a diving board out in the middle of the pitch and be done with it.

yep, they say that the Italians are different, and they are, but it's always there - see the theatrics from the defender to eat up time after the penalty last night!
Still, I hope the Italians win. they've played good, positive football and it'd be nice to take the spanish down a peg or two.

Re: EURO 2012 KNOCKOUT ROUNDS
Knew this would happen after the final whistle last night, but the facebook patriots here are now trying to claim some sort of glory for Ireland because the finalists are both from our group. If they had any (football) sense they would have put Euro2012 to bed from an Irish perspective and hoped that some new blood might energize the Irish squad for the World Cup qualifiers.
Thought Italy played Germany perfectly last night and feel they may do same to Spain. The blocks and tackles were a throw back to when Italy were world leaders in defending. Pirlo on his own does the job of the three Spanish playmakers. I expect a very frustrated Spanish team on Sunday.

Fuck the criminals, I've got money on Spain

Re: EURO 2012 KNOCKOUT ROUNDS
What some people don't understand is that Spain wants to WIN. They don't want to entertain the whole world with some "exciting" football.. all they want is the trophy. They don't play in an attacking way - actually they are defending for 90 minutes. The difference to most teams is that they defend with and without the ball. And how good they are is amazing. France wasn't able to create one single GOOD chance. Portugal did create ONE chance.
You don't have to like the style (though I love it as I love tactics
) but you should at least accept it.

Re: EURO 2012 KNOCKOUT ROUNDS
Good day,
first of all I've to say I'm not trashed and shocked as I was in 2006 when I was in the Westfalenstadium in Dortmund and I saw Germany loosing against Italy. The 1:0 from Grosso was the goal which hurts me still most.
Yesterday I was very optimistic to win, although Italy made from game one on (1:1 against Spain after a 1:0 lead!) a very strong appearance. Obviously they have for this tournament a very good mix in their squad.
99% of all Germans did not really understand why Löw changed squad after the Greece game again. Podolski did not play his best football and was replaced by Schürrle and Müller by Reus. So Löw changed that back and he brought in Kroos as a watch dog for Pirlo which is stupid in the first place. So the German offensive fire power was taken away and to put some cream on the cake Schweinsteiger was not really fit during this tournament and Özil never showed what he can do, for whatever reason.
If the English team has a curse with penalty kicks, Germany has it with the Italians
Regarding the EM: Somehow this tournament will not really stick out. Most of group games missed the dramatic note. One of the best game as a neutral was definitely Denmark against England.
I think that the referees have been awful. Showing yellow cards for sometimes nothing, if this is the direction of football then let’s pray. And I don't want to mention the not given goal from Ukraine
Regarding Spain: Well, third time in the row made it into the final. European champ 2008, World champion 2010 and I think they will do it again, so European champ 2012. If you like it or not that is a legacy!
Spain has a concept and most important they have the players to put it on the pitch. Not sure what will happen if one day a Xavi or Inesta will not be there any longer. I don't blame Spain for their style. I blame every team which cannot take them on (you now as a coach and player what to except from Spain, so no surprises) and which is in 'a blue funk' before the game. Germany lost two times in 2008 in the final 1:0 and 2010 in the semifinal 1:0 and we had no courage what so ever to change the game!
Let's bring the tournament to a good end with a good game on Sunday.
I think it will be Spain 2:0 during regular time.
Best wishes,
Thomas

I agree with most of what you say but when did Denmark play against England?

Re: EURO 2012 KNOCKOUT ROUNDS
So Tomas is there a big backlash against your manager and calls for him to be replaced yet ? I mean he had done a great job up until last night but there is no doubt that he fcuked up big time last night. I found it amazing that on Irish tv last night after the game they were calling germany an average team but prior to last night there were most people's favourites to win it out
Out of curiousity how do the german fans feel on the centre forward competition.......would they pick gomez or klose ? I
