Re: Ozil
A great player (with a suspect attitude) surrounded by a few class players and a lot of mediocrity.
We all know Wenger's staying, so this is his last chance to actually build a team around genuine class.

Re: Ozil
He plays well against medicore opposition, blame the opposition. He has a mediocre game against good opponents, blame Özil.spendsum4uckingmoney wrote:He did competently against the mighty Newcastle UTD.

Re: How to solve the Ozil problem?
He is class. He has struggled at times in the PL but that is down to the first season thing, being surrounded with mostly average to good-ish players and a new type of football, city, lifestyle etc. 99% of foreign players go through that. If we hang onto him next season we should see alot more from him and if we could add 2 or 3 world class players then we would see what he was at Real, one of the best providers of assists for strikers in Europe. He needs better players to play with, players that think on the same level he does.

Had a similar argument in the Dublin Arsenal Supporters Club in 1995-96 about one Denis Bergkamp. Not claiming to be a football genius but we were watching a game in the Ha'penny Bridge when Bergkamp missed a chance (think it was League Cup semi v Villa )...few minutes later DB tried to take a quick free but no one else was tuned in on the pitch. Comments of "he is fucking useless " etc rang out. I pointed out that his problem was some of the players around him were not up to his speed of thought.DB10GOONER wrote:He is class. In my opinion if you cannot appreciate Ozil you then deserve Gervinho.. He did not look happy last night even when scoring or creating goals. I wonder how long we will have him. ?

Re: How to solve the Ozil problem?
Ozil probably looks pissed off because he's realised he's at a place which has no ambition, and 4th place is considered 'success'. At Madrid he had Ronaldo, Di Maria, Benzema and Higuain ahead of him... now he has Giroud, Bendy and Postman Pat. Probably feels like a right mug for believing whatever bullshit Wenger spouted during their phone call.

No probs.
Give the bloke 4 - 5 quality players around him and he will be at home.
Giroud, Postman, a played out of position Podolski for starters
