Man City Away

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Yaya Toure was not very good when he played for us in the trial games. If memory serves me right it was more than just against Barnet, he had two trials?
I remember watching one and thinking he was indeed very average.
So too when I saw him for Donetsk.

He developed into a good player at Olympiakos. That was the point I wish we had gone in for him, for all I know we did but he rejected the offer?

I certainly remember a few away games that we lost when none of the team came over to applaud the travelling support, th14 included. Its not a new thing it just hasn't been on the supporters radar as much because the team has largely been coming over when losing whilst challenging for 4th. Had BFG not made his point to ozil, would anyone have noticed?

Flamini was overrun in midfield because he was the only one there , we let them on to us with a guaranteed overlap from the first 10 mins and then time ofter time whilst the midfield sauntered back and City poured forward overtaking our negligent midfielders however it seemed that this was our game plan.
We carved them in two a number of times ,had a glut of chances to get back on terms but Giroud missed a Hat Trick of them or more .
The Ref and Lines man where pants and cost us .
Oh and City are quite good and brushed us off the ball like a fith year against the 3rd years when I was at school .
Above all though this was our best 11 we tried to out-shoot them and we couldn't hack it.
Chalk this one up to Zonal marking and bad Tactics C/O the Wenger man .
This team will win nothing except the virtual trophy ,but we might have some excitement on the way !

We were pretty much gash.

Too many points to bother making and all have been made anyway on here. Would just say though that Flamoney was total gash. As was Jack. And Ozil. And to lesser degrees Kos and Mert. And Giroud. And Chesney. And Ramsey. And Sagna. And Nacho. And the Fat Drunk. And Arsene.

A veritable gaggle of gash.

We never had a chance in this one. The TV schedulers made sure of that. Three high tempo games in six days was always going to be too much. If you are Citeh and can buy every player on the planet, fixture pile ups are not an issue of any sort. For us, and the vast majority of other teams, it is a problem. That is not our fault.

I am certainly not judging us on this game as it is totally pointless.

Probably will. But y'know - gash is gash. One can dress it up as one likes. One can wrap it in a silk thong, one can add the old vajazzle, but at the end of the day, it's still just an old burst hedgehog under there. 8)
