The ''no one is coming'' Transfer Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Can't blame me for this thread, the transfer threads I start normally each about 400 pages.
Even twitter isn't linking us with any signings I take it

James Olley is quickly overtaking John Cross and Paddy Barclay in the Wenger turdburglar club. £70m to find an 'exceptional' player and my favourite line of all:

Arsenal remain the only club to have made a major play this month, with Mohamed Elneny joining from Basel to reinforce Arsene Wenger's injury-hit squad.

Yeah, that major play for the fella who took a month to sign and hasn't being allowed a single minute's playing time yet? Sent shockwaves throughout Europe that signing

Exactly. Says it all that nobody even believes Wenger's deceitful comments about prospective transfers any more.

I’ll wait until the window has closed before losing hope; Wenger has always strengthened when . . . Oh, maybe not.

I imagine that once the window shuts we’ll be regaled by stories of who nearly signed, who’ll be like anew signing and how there was no value in the market.

Maybe its time to change the title of the thread to "is it time for a Summer transfer window thread yet?".

Which should be one of those locked threads with one post on it from a MOD which reads

"It is difficult to buy players during the European Championships because nobody wants to sell. The end."

Been poor this season but a very good player, would be a solid buy. But you know what else?

No doubt we'll be 'very close' though....and we'll hear about how close 8 years later when he's had a fantastic career somewhere else

Marata's decent, but he's not the quickest and I don't think he'd be a massive upgrade on Le Lampost.
We should've bought Dybala, the bloke who's keeping him out of the team.

Apparently we were close to buying Dybala in the summer. Probably about as close as we were signing Maradona in 1979 and Stanley Matthews during the war.

I've just read that Ramires has signed with a Chinese club.

The fact that a decent PL player would sign away the best years of his career playing in a shit country, for a shit team, in a shit league, speaks volumes for why the Chavs (and other clubs) are regressing.

Why earn a fortune, working hard to win trophies in a league with quality and history when you can fuck about with a load of pub-quality players earning squillions?? It's depressing to anyone who loves football.

Not sure he's what we need but it has got to a point we need a new striker so bad I'll have him.
