The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Thanks.

Whats the fee, £23m ish?

A team of:-

Sz; Debuchy, Kos, BFG, Gibbs; Khedira, Ramsey, Ozil; Sanchez, Giroud, Walcott

That is a very good starting 11 with a lot of depth (although perhaps we could do with another defender)

Should be around that figure.

If Giroud is a starter for us next season we won't win the title. Sánchez up top, Theo on the right and Ox/Caz on the left.

Khedira would replace Giroud's physical and aerial presence in the team.

First post here, so be gentle :D

As a long term Gooner (25 years + now), I am cautiously optimistic about the business we have completed so far. Sanchez is world class, Debuchy should be a solid medium term replacement for Sagna, Chambers is one for the future and when was the last time we had two international keepers on the books?

I still think to challenge for the title we need a defensive midfielder as Arteta is not good enough in that role. Khedira could be the missing piece in the puzzle.

In terms of players out, I think Jenkinson needed first team football and I wish him luck on loan. I certainly think we should at loaning a couple of our young forwards out (Sanogo, Gnarbry & Miyachi).

What do people think?

Welcome 5-2-3 ! :barscarf:

I'm guessing wenger will start with Shez, but if (or should that be when) he f*cks up - Opsina will get his chance - either way it feels more re-assuring to have two decent Gk's instead of the debacle that was flappy and almuniatwat.

We still need a DMF - who can mix it and play with class, skill and bark out the orders.

welcome...technically we had 2 internationsl (if not 3 not with viv) goalies on the books last season! miyachi is cak and should be sold (in fact i thought hed gone, but then pravda still says the djorrou turd hasnt flushed yet despite him being sold to hamburg apparently ages back). certain posters on here were getting overexcitd about rio years back when he was being brushed off the ball at bolton. but he has developed not a bit and is far to lightweight.

gnabry i think should get a chance here, no need for a loan, he should be in and around the match day squad every week imo.

the mailman (sorry for using your earnt nickname karl malone) can go to whoever will have him. he will never be and clearly wont be good enough for us.

oh and just to add, khedira isnt coming!

quintero would only have been likely had caz been flogged, but madrid pulling out means he wont be (we should have got rid and signed cesc, but thats been done to death)

hopefully the fact he hasnt said hes done or only super quality means we will get a DM. fingers crossed its bender. i would be happy with carvalho, and lastly khedra despite him not being a true dm. schnerdelin can go to the scum, they can waste 25m on him whens he no better than what they have.

yes it is. we can afford people easily. why not spend before and effectively guarantee CL.

we have plenty of ring fenced transfer cash regardless of cl riches. (or not riches as we never get that far so dont earn anywhere near as much as our supposed competitors)

We run the club sustainably - and nobody can say we havnt spent money this close season!

Besides, would the likes of Khedeira come if we wernt in the CL with offers from the likes of Bayern?
