Superbowl

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

great game. i was backing the underdogs (cardinals), but anyhow, had plenty of drama. actually did not feel tired during first two quarters as normal due to my working on tax return (sorting receipts) - that was a first. showed why it is such a great sport though. beat liverpool v chelsea for entertainment by a street. i won't say anything about gunners v west ham...

Btw, a LOT of Americans follow actual football (soccer) from Europe's 4 big leagues (England, Italy, Spain, Germany). It's just we have a high population (305 million +). I saw figures a few months ago showing that ~30 million Americans follow soccer elsewhere. Which by its own right is a lot more people than some countries have total, its just not a huge proportion of the population.

I'm from Chicago and follow the Cubs and Bears huge. Never miss games. I also never miss an Arsenal game. But I follow and talk (forum post) about Arsenal online a LOT more than the other 2 American teams simply because I love the sport more. The internet has made the world a much smaller place.

1) No i do not follow the MLS at all (couldnt tell you who won this season).
2) Man U is by far the most supported team. There was a survey on TV the other day and Man U was #1, followed very closely by the scousers, then Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Arsenal/Milan/Madrid/Chelsea are all right there.

ESPN just started putting EPL, Seri A, and La Liga scores at the bottom of the little tracker on their channels like a month ago. Plays from the EPL are far more common highlights in the "Top 10 plays of the night" than MLS even.

Supporting the EPL here is slowly, slowly, becoming like a "cool" thing to do. About 6 years ago no one ever mentioned it or talked about it, today its like an underground thing where its "cool" to be cultured and support soccer in Europe. The one thing you can tell about people who follow it is that they arent the hillbilly type redneck republicans sterotype who follow Nascar and the NFL. They tend to be a little more liberal and intelligent... as weird as that may seem to people in the UK.
