ROMA THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Usually I like nothing more than seeing us at home up against a socalled quality team, but in this instance I just do not see where that little extra to beat Roma is going to come from. In short

THERE'S NO PETROL LEFT IN THE TANK!!

What's more, getting bad vibes about Totti :awnker: and how he got wound up, lost his rag and got sent off at Highbury last time Roma visited. That might be some extra motivation tonight, and spells bad news for us. Also, Vucinic is banging them in regularly for them, and will be another threat. Roma rested players at the weekend in preparation for tonight. Italian teams may be too fking soft to play twice a week, but they are no mugs when it comes to preparation. They will have studied our present illustrous team, powered by THE Mighty Midfield, and simply SHIVERED WITH FEAR#!!

Tonight is shaping up as one serious reality check for us. Maybe our deaf and blind Supreme Leader will concede that something isn't quite right.. but then again maybe not. I hope I'm wrong.. but I fear we have it coming chaps.

COME ON ARSENAL!!

Unfortunately I fear the most intriguing aspect on this game will be Wengers comments or should I say excuses if it goes tits up! followed by bullshit comments that we can turn it round in the 2nd leg, because we still have desire and belief and oh yes great spirit.

Ok its pancake today is this a sign that we can put roma in a frying pan and flatten them? Can we turn up the heat at the emirates and change them to aroma? Ha ha seriously upset I cant make this match have to bloody work! I hope for the sake of Arsene wenger not having egg on his face we get a result because if he doesnt well the Sun will have a field day lol. Then again last year the chavs got done by Fernabache and they ended up in the final so just saying nothing is done after the first leg either way. Diaby coming back is good as our injury list along with ineligible players robs us of quite a bit of depth. As much as he has been terrible all year long these are the kind of games that Adebayor usually sparkles in however, if Bendtner gets the nod he should be just as effective as long as he remains a target in the box no need for him to drop short as he only ends up giving the ball away. I have heard he has been looking better to be honest I havent seen all that much change but hey im just a harsh critic. For the love of God please do not start Eboue! Its time to show that famed belief and quality wenger always goes on about!

Just give me a first ever knockout win in the European Cup at The Grove. I'll take 1-0 right now.

No where - just like all the others :-)

anyway straight from skysports….

this is good news for us:

Roma, though, could see Arsenal ripe for the taking as they look to edge the Emirates Stadium fixture ahead of the return leg at Stadio Olimpico next month.

Head coach Luciano Spalletti may be forced into a late reshuffle after star striker Francesco Totti and right-back Cicinho both failed to complete training on Monday night.

Totti is said to be carrying a groin complaint and Cicinho has been struggling with a knee injury, while injured pair Juan and Mirko Vucinic look set to miss out.

Roma currently lie sixth in Serie A after mounting some impressive form following a difficult start to the season.

i think we have a decent chance tonight! although if, as thought, song and denilson start , the ball is only going to go sideways and backwards! hopefully robin will pop up with a goal. 1-0....

Arsenal 1-0 Roma
Real Madrid 0-0 Liverpool
Inter 2-1 Man UTD
Juventus 1-0 Chelsea

As long as we finish with a clean sheet, like we did against AC, I will be satisfied. If we can nick a goal even better.
