what if we loose in the cl final to a very dodgey decision ?
would you sack him?
YES..because I remember Wenger making very dodgy decision to take Pires off when Lehman got red card (2006 CL final), which I would argue cost us winning the game...and it was shameful end of Arsenal career for one of best ever players to wear red and white shirt...

Also it's crystal clear that Wenger only cares about CL and that is projecting on players...so as long as he's the manager Arsenal will never seriosly challenge for the title again...

We scored shortly after this with 10 men against the best team on the planet (at the time). Larsson cost us the game, the best team won.

Yes it was a sad way for Pires to go but it had to be a wide player & Reyes offered more in a 10 man team. You cannot say Wenger cost us that match

So it wasn't in slightest a dodgy decision to take off our most creative player?

I vote no with reservations.

I've stated all along I will give him until May 2010. I stick by that because of what he has achieved at our club. But if we are still in the same sorry state (or worse off) and poor players like Song, Denilson and Bendtner (& cheats like Eboue) are still starting games and Wenger has not addressed the issues of building a better quality squad then I will certainly say his time is up for me. The sad thing is, I honestly reckon we probably will be in the same sorry state... :(

It will be a sad day if he goes leaving behind memories of not qualifying for the CL and weak players like Song, Bendtner and Denilson (and cheats like Eboue) playing for us... But then most managers don't leave their job on a high anyway...

If this happens next season, then questions need to be asked
Trouble is haven't we been saying this for a few seasons now? Certainly in the summers of 06 and 07

Interesting poll results so far.

Looking like those that post the most seem to want him out, but that there is a large silent majority who don't.

I vote no.

New manager, no.

New business principles, yes. Speculate to accumulate, rather than save and not prosper.

Reyes certainly did not offer more in a ten or an eleven man than Pires, in fact Reyes would look right at home in the current team "a chucker with no heart nor love for the club"

Reyes was a sub and only came on in the 85th minute, so I'm not sure what the relevance of your comment is, but there you go.

Hleb and Freddie stayed on, when Pires was subbed for Almunia.

At the time, I agreed with Wenger in taking Pires off. Hleb was younger and had more energy (and in my opinion, in better form) whilst Freddie offered better work rate... which when you're down to 10 men in the first half, is obviously pretty important.

You could argue all day about whether Wenger should have taken off Freddie, Hleb or Pires... but it wasn't as if Pires was the player he used to be, so he was hardly indispensable at the time.

At the end of the day, it was 3 years ago.. and it's a game I'd rather not think about, so I'll stop there.

Nice Guy was talking about the Champions League Final...

Nice Guy - "Yes it was a sad way for Pires to go but it had to be a wide player & Reyes offered more in a 10 man team. You cannot say Wenger cost us that match"

(It seems that Nice Guy wrongly thought Reyes was on the pitch when he wasn't)

My point was that AW took out our most creative player, in CL final of all games...doesn't that tell you something? Well it tells me that AW does not have what it takes to lead us to European glory, simply because he is too rigid in his beliefs and follows same paterns over and over...and as NiceGuy pointed out it was 35yrs old who won that game for Barcelona...so much for young blood...

The thing is, AW is like book that everyone has read, he simply cannot come up with anything new and original...very few people start changing their beliefs at 60 and Wenger is certinaly not one of them...

BTW have a look at what's happening at AC Milan at the moment...the same AC Milan who did not qualify for CL last season and decided to stick with their manager...

I bet we will all be here same time next year saying crap like: Give him one more season, let him finish his contract, this is the first time in his reign that Spurs finished ahead of us etc etc... :banghead:
