On the Villarreal website they are offering a "season" ticket for the rest of the season which includes our game and games against Malaga, Real, Recreativo, Seville and Valencia for €110. This will also include the semi if they get there. :?

Slightly off topic......If arsenal were to get to the final. how would arsenal sell the tickets? Interested to know if they would do travel club first i.e to 30+ credits etc?
was a bit gutted they did the fa cup semi final to season ticket holders.
anyone know? what happened when we played barcelona in the final?
cheers

will be exactly the same as fa cup semi - and indeed paris in 2006. away scheme season ticket holders first. then gold members, gradually descending in numbers of away credits. anyone currently holding more than 7 credits should get a ticket no problem, and then they will drop according to how many tickets they have left.

fa cup final will have a smaller allocation than the semi, should we make it. again, i reckon 7 credits should get you in though.

if you are silver or red member, the only way you are attending either final, should arsenal make either, is by getting a ticket from someone else, unless you are on the away season ticket scheme.

pretty certain travel club membership won't help you at all, but i stand to be corrected. are they being given any priority for fa cup semi for example?

i think that's outrageous for a 90,000 seat stadium. for the fa to deny proper fans 1/3 of capacity is so wrong :banghead:

rolypoly has contacted the club - here's what he wrote -

For the Attention of: Mr Ivan Gazidis

Dear Mr Gazidis
Re: Villareal - Away Ticket Prices

I thank you for your communication dated 13th March 2009 in reply to my earlier letter regarding the Spurs Away Ticket situation. While I appreciate the detailed explanation therein, the most contentious comment you make is found within your penultimate paragraph in which you defend the Box Office’s reputation.

I believe that the announcement on the website of the prices for the Villarreal away tickets backs up my previous comments regarding the attitude of the Box Office towards the club supporters.

You will be aware that it was announced on the official website yesterday that Arsenal supporters are having to pay £72.00 for tickets for the away game at Villarreal. I am sure that part of the justification will be based upon the current exchange rate situation and that had the exchange rate of a year or so ago applied then we would be paying about £50.00, which more or less equates to the price that Villareal fans have to pay to attend a game at the Emirates.

While I appreciate that, quite probably Arsenal FC have little influence upon the price structures for away games nevertheless, most supporters are very upset at such a high price being charged. This is another situation in which the club falls down in terms of communication with its own supporters. The bald announcement of ticket prices of £72.00 was bound to come as a shock to supporters so why did the club not apply some common sense and explain why the price is so high and why the club cannot do anything about it. It would be helpful if the club explained whether or not Villarreal supporters are paying EU72.00 to attend the game in Villarreal or if its only Arsenal supporters that are having to pay such a high price.

Given that most supporters who intend to go are already committed in the sense of having booked up flights and hotels I would have thought it would have been a nice gesture on the part of the club to have limited its charges to £50.00 or EU50.00 only with the club agreeing to pick up the rest of the bill but I guess that is simply not going to happen.

It would be helpful if the club would explain whether or not it intends to make any representations to UEFA regarding ticket pricing in particular when, as in this instance, I would imagine that Villarreal are charging at least three times the price they would charge for a normal home game. Obviously if Arsenal adopted such a policy everybody would be paying at least £100.00 a ticket for the home game which would cause an uproar.

I plainly cannot expect a personal reply from you to each and every letter of mine but I would hope that someone can use the official website to explain clearly what is Arsenal’s point of view on this subject matter.

Kindest Regards

(me again)
he's agreed to this being posted here by way of encouragement to all other gooners to write in. he also states -

another thing would be to encourage those going to boycott purchase of official merchandise and anything within ground. a small gesture perhaps but one way of peacefully expressing resentment.

go to it.

What makes it worse is that its the first leg as well!

If we win the £72 would have been worth it!

Radford cannot understand why the other tickets for porto, fenerbache and rome were around the £35 mark. the £ has been shit for months so that cannot be used as an explination :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Its just below the story about free tickets for the unemployed
Sorry the link just goes to the home page. It is the story starting "Roig......"

appreciated chippy.

so no spaniard with half a brain is going to pay the price we will for this match! although the club can argue that they are charging the same price for this game in isolation.

clever. exploitative.

as roly has said, the very least travelling gooners can do is refuse to buy anything inside the stadium.
