Taking The Missus Up.....

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

rebel gooner do you drink puchien? (unsure of the spelling of that)

I know it's banned over there but I also know there is a way to get your hands on some.

My dad has some out here, even though he doesn't drink...

Poitín is how it's spelt and it is the devils sperm mixed with LSD!! The real stuff is anyway. Tried it a couple of times in my twenties and ended up truly f*cked up...

8)    :?

(I actually made all of the above emoticon expressions during and after drinking it. In that order too...)

I find that you can't beat the imported Wife Beater (Stella) when drinking in England. Some of the Irish pubs do acceptable Gout (Guiness) Smithwicks, Bass and the NEW Harp (old Harp tasted like a wino's aresh*le).

Allegedly...

Although, I have developed a bit of a worrying liking for that Fosters Super Chilled :? . It ain't hardcore drinking material, but it is damn tasty and refreshing... :D

Wow I've never heard of any of those beers over here apart from Guiness of course.

Here its mainly the likes of Tooheys, Hahn, VB, Fosters etc..

Is Poitin really that hard to come by?

Depends where you live. Most small towns over in the West will have a punter that can get you some...

I actually grew up in Brisvegas (Brisbane to non-Aussies) RaM. Moved back to Ireland when I was fifteen, so I had just about got a few VB's into me at beach parties on Surfers. I liked it.

Great f*cking country to grow up in!! 8) Perfect weather (in Brissy anyway), great schools, all the sports you could want, swimming pools and beaches.

I remember the one night my folks let us stay up late was Saturday night to watch Match of The Day. Highlight of my week as a kid, especially if the Gunners were the featured match!!! 8)

That's true. Probably why so many English stag parties end up in jail!!

But for truly weak beer you can't beat our American friends. (Apologies in advance to any American Gooners on here!!) .

I have an American cousin (big tough New York cop, six-two, 16 stone of muscle, drinking legend in his precinct etc etc). I dragged his ass out on an Irish-style "session" couple of years ago in Dublin while he was on his hols, visiting family and all that.

Six Guiness's in and he's at the bar swaying like a one legged monkey with vertigo. An old guy asked him was he ok and he said he'd just drank six Guiness in a very loud and proud New York kind of way.

The old guy just nodded and said, "Yeah. The first dozen are the hardest..."

I nearly p*ssed myself laughing  . Americans just cannot drink.

Probably because they insist on calling Coors a "beer" .

We should recipricate and call Lucozade a whiskey.

Mmmmm...lucozade...

Yeah my family is from Galway so that'd probably why my dad says he can get it through his brothers...

Only thing wrong with living here DB10 is the terrible hours I have to wake up to watch the matches. But yeah, good country I live in.
Pommies??
:D What else would you call them? :D

As for Americans, I don't know any.

But Aussies and irish both seem to be able to hold their drink so my blood/country of residence shold mean I'm quite good at it too. :D

Like drinking the cider in summer myself, bulmers or strongbow, like guinness as well of course, has anyone tried peeterman artois, it's from the same brewery as stella but tastes much nicer, although i remember it being a bit weaker. has anyone tried the imported beers they do in wetherspoons, i can particularly recommend Etalon and pivovar herold.
Otherwise i'm mainly a whisky man, or of course my secret shame; Vodka and red bull

Ah, V&RB 8) . Great for keeping a session going. Actually like an odd Smirnnoff and White meself. :?

Or Stolly and White; what I drank on the whole 5 and a half hour flight home from me honeymoon in Cyprus!! The missus was asleep, the movie was sh*te and I found a great Rock channel on the armrest radio. Got out the credit card and got nicely FUBAR. 8) 8) 8)

We landed in Dublin and the missus was bemused to say the least as I just sat there grinning at her.

Lovely, UNDERSTANDING woman... 8)
