Every high ball into the box caused consternation again. Even the corner the had right at the death saw two Atletico totally free going for the header.

There are a lot of the same problems repeating themselves. If money isn't spen on the spine of this team it could be a long groundhog day.....sorry season.

Lets face it Denilson lost his man when they hit the post and Gallas lost his man when they scored.

If we keep saying we need to buy a powerful centreback and defensive midfielder who's going to be dropped?

You have the same surname as me

We have to drop denilson/song and a cb. We need to get players who slot traight into our starting 11, not just into our squad. If it is true senderos has gone to everton, and eboue potentially going to fioretina we will have over £60 mil in the bank. 3x £20mil players will give us a great chance. If we fail to improve the postiions that we have been so weak in for years, we will not challenge for honours.

When all is said and done any purchases that wenger makes at this stage will have just 1 friendly (valencia) to bed into the team before the season kicks off and if wenger fcuks about again this week then it is likely that they will get no pre season match with their new team-mates  When you factor in the huge importance and the very real possibility of a tough draw in the champs league qualifier just a few days after the everton game then you cannot but be worried :worried: If wenger is waiting to confirm qualifying before spending the money then we will deserve to get knocked out and him to get sacked :x

Same awful defending at set pieces. What do they do in training?

Bendtner is not a wide man and RVP cannot play the lone striker. We need a Huntelaar to put away all the chances we create

Denilson why?

I dont want any potential signings. i want proven experience players. We have money so what the fcuk is the problem and what is taking so long :banghead:

Wenger said he would buy experience towards the end of last season ( "If we buy players, it will certainly not be players who lack experience,") and so far we have lost 1 experinced player and not bought any, and the season starts in 14 days :banghead:

We have done ok getting rid of players so far, and now need to spend, spend and fcuking spend :banghead: :banghead:

Dont you hate it when wenger says "everyone in england thinks you have to buy to sort out problems" :banghead: :banghead: :

Yes arsene we certainly do have to buy because we have not solved the same problems in the team and the answer is not with the players already at the club

I looked forward to watching todays game, but all it has been was a big wake up call, that has reminded us we still have massive holes in our team

Or an Eduardo??

I agree that Bendtner isn't a wide player, though.

Wenger - "I will be looking at all the options we have during the week, and then we close [pre-season]. I believe we have quite a strong squad now. If we can add one or two players, we will do it, but not more.â€

Didn't think we looked great today. Seemed pretty devoid of ideas, happy to knock it around in the middle of the park & hope that the Atletico defence would part & let us through. Jack looked like the only one who really wanted to run at the defence and try to score, thoroughly deserved man of the match. Thank fuck we had AA23's coolness to put those chances away :barscarf:

Must also mention that the "*word censored* Ratio" inside The Grove was particularly high today, i'd guess at it being approximately 90% *word censored* in there. I was sat near the front of block 4, surrounded by a 30 strong group of Yanks, sporting matching promotional Emirates caps and making interesting points such as "Van Persay is sooo hot!" or "What does PSG stand for?" all the while stuffing down as many Emirates brand hot dogs/burgers/nachos as possible. Within a stones throw of my seat i also spotted about 15 tourists with telefoto lenses longer than my arm.
With such a high proportion of foreigners/one time visitors of course nobody knew any songs so we had the incessant & quite frankly ridiculous "Stand up if you hate Tottnum" repeated at least 612 times, coupled with a hideous mexican wave which seemed never ending. The banter & songs on offer at Hannover on Wednesday were ten times better than what we had today. What a horribly Americanised corporate culture experience. Still i'll be back there tomorrow 8)

rosicky has been wonderful and if he can just keep his fitness up will be a huge boost. i am starting to love the idea of nasri as dm. if you pair him with cesc and put tomas and andrei out there, wow. with eduardo and robin too?? scary

Without doubt the most lop sided ridiculous midfield that I have ever seen and considering what our midfield looked like on occasions last season then that is really saying something
im confused augie you saying you WOULDNT want that midfield four pairing? if not, i think youre mad - its not like denilson cant defend worth shit so saying nasri is too soft wont pass muster, at least he can pass, dribble, and shoot. lets see teams try and defend that quatro.

I'm not sure how well Nasri would do as a defensive midfielder. The kid has just got an attacking style of play, and he's been excellent this season on the wing. Sure a Rosicky, Walcott and Arshavin can do the same job, but it doesn't make Nasri a defensive player.
