By Richard Clarke

Thomas Vermaelen is set to make his full debut at Everton on Saturday, however Arsène Wenger still has a number of injury concerns going into the opening match of the Premier League campaign.
The Belgian missed the latter end of pre-season with a hamstring problem but returned on Wednesday night by playing 45 minutes for Belgium.
That is the upside of the injury news. The downside is that Wenger could be without as many as six players for Saturday evening’s match. Tomas Rosicky (hamstring) and Samir Nasri (broken leg) were already sidelined before the manager spoke to Arsenal TV Online on Thursday afternoon. However, in that interview, the Frenchman ruled out Theo Walcott (back), Johan Djourou (knee) and Lukasz Fabianski (knee) from the trip to Goodison Park, while Abou Diaby (groin) is classed as a doubt.

Perhaps most concerning is that both Vermalen and Gallas have had injury problems in preseason and with Djourou now out next in line is a certain Manure reject :speechless:

Obviously its too late to do anything before this game but please please please do something before we go to Old Trafford on the 29th

All part of Arsene's master plan. Senderos comes in, has a stormer, Everton pay £10m once Lescott goes and we are left with a growing pile of money to throw round the board room at each other !

AL
SAGNA
GALLAS
SILVESTRE
CLICHY

VERMAELAN (aw will play him in midfield just you watch)
CESC
DENILSON
EBOUE

ARSHAVIN
RVP

This is as difficult an opener as we've had for quite a while. and will do well to get a point. (did we tank them 4 first time up about 5 or 6 seasons ago)difference is we were a good side back then.

You mean eventually easing past them at home after being 1-0 down at half-time having created nothing then putting in a performance of utter shite away, again going one nil down to a team which had no fucking strikers before RVP rescued us at the very death?

augie wrote:Things is bard that rvp has never struck up a good partnership with any other striker he has played with since he joined us  His goals record would also contradict your assumptions about how good he is as well. I think the description that suits him best is that he is a scorer of great goals but not a great goalscorer (I didnt create that phrase but dont know who did so cant credit the author I'm afraid)
you may have something there augie

and I was one of them saying last 2 seasons that bendtner and Eduardo make a really good pairing...they play well together....It all satrted in that Carling Cup game against blackburn....

There again RVP has 'matured' in terms of his......... well everything really..I'd like to think that VP can develop that 'telepathic' thing (that TH and Bergkamp(God) had)....with Arshavin and Cesc...

Went back to sleep after posting the above and dreamt that I was told the score and we won 2-1. :barscarf: You heard it here first.

Lads lets look on the bright side, Everton are missing a number of key players, we have the best opening day record in premier league history, We have only ever conceded more than 1 goal on the opening day once in our premier league history and we will 110% score today.

This season nobody expects, everybody has written us off, today is the first step of many towards one of the most successful seasons in the clubs history, don't expect signings until we dispatch Celtic.

We've lost just 1 of our last 24 league games and we are unbeaten away from home in 12 matches in which we have scored 26 goals and conceded 13.

On that evidence i expect Everton 1-2 Arsenal as the scoreline, Vermuelen and Arshavin the goalscorers

if we go to goodison park with tinky winky(denilson), dipsy(eboue), laa-laa(song) and po(diaby), in our startin 11, then i see nothing but defeat. im sure at least 2 of our teletubbies will start, so at best a draw 1-1.

Quite possible. I mean there's no hope we'll keep a clean sheet right??. It's more likely Jordan will stay celibate for the rest of her miserable life.

I believe in premonitions. A cheeky flutter on 2-1 Chippy!!!

This will be the starting lineup

Almunia
Sanga Gallas Vermalen Clichy
Bendtner Denilson Song Fabregas Arshavin
RVP

Bench: Mannone, Silvestre, Eboue, Ramsey, Wilshire, Vela, Eduardo.

can this team compete with Everton not sure looks very lightweight and not much from the bench.
