I remember a CL (I think?) where he chased down a semi loose ball which a defender was going to get. Simple bit of pressure to hopefully make the defender loose the ball.
The great thing was (and no suprise) from midfield he overtook Ade in chasing this ball and erged his team mates to push up to win this ball back!

If his dad is Italian, then I think it's quite normal for a child to want to be a success at a major club in that country.

Also, Flamini is in his mid-twenties, so when he was a child he would no doubt have grown up dreaming of playing for AC Milan, as they were THE team of his generation, what with all their success and players like Van Basten, Baresi, Maldini, Rijkaard, Gullit, etc.

As a comparison, as I child I can't imagine Flamini dreaming of playing for George Graham/Bruce Rioch's Arsenal, can you??

All I'm saying, is that it's very narrow minded to assume that Flamini would join one of the greatest, most respected, football clubs of all time (AC Milan) for money alone, as there are plenty of footballistic & personal reasons why he may want to do so.

I know it hasn't worked out for him, but players tend to believe in their own ability and, like Michael Owen at Real Madrid, he probably felt he was good enough (and with time on his side) to break into the Milan side and become part of the history of a truely legendary club.

By the way, I also remember some Everton fans suggesting Rooney joined ManUre "for the money".... I mean, seriously, is it that hard to understand why he would want to join a global giant like ManUre??

You just have to accept that many football fans are very one eyed, and will believe what they want to about players... and most of the time fans seem to believe the player is in the wrong for leaving, regardless of how reasonable those reasons may seem from a nuetral point of view. But fans aren't nuetrals, are they?

he would be a top class signing, if spers get him then that would be a major worry for us, as they could potentially get 4th (not over us) but over city or liverpool) and we dont want that. in his final season he was outstanding, better than what song is now, as he was more box to box.

o and the club screwed him over, showed no interest in retaining him till the last minute had he been offered a deal earlier he would have signed.

For what its worth i believe the flamster would be first choice even if everybody is fit in our squad, we ran chavski a lot closer when he played than when our current starting midfield did.

He is by far and away a better player than song, twice as quick, a better passer of the ball and can grab the odd goal.

He is a very busy player, snapping at heels etc, something we don't have and something we ourselves can't play against as witnessed against everton andanyone else who puts us under pressure.

Italian football is very different to the pl and he obviously didn't suit it or adapt to it but he was a very fine pl player in his last season imo.
