AWAY TO PORTO THREAD
Get them back to London with any sort of draw and we'll win the tie at the Emirates. Not to say we can't win tomorrow, any Arsenal side with Fabregas in it always has a chance to win and I expect we'll score but I'd happily take a draw now. Forget the defence, Almunia is no loss at all and we only have 1 player out apart from him, the front 6 could be horrible looking especially if that lightweight loser Denilson plays and does a disappearing act (although I have just guarenteed he will score one of his 30 yard thunderbolts now, thank me afterwards)
Song is missing. As are 'Shava (which we knew), Eduardo and Gallas.bergkamp10 wrote:My great friend missing in goal....highburyJD wrote:shit no Arshavin...
I guess we'll be
Flapmunia
Sagna Gallas Verminator Clich
Song (Denilson if Alex doesn't make it)
Cesc Diaby
Nasri Bendtner Dudu
that Hulk is dangerous... they have that Colombian Falcao..?
dont know their team as well as in previous years![]()

I would go for the following team;
Flapenski
Sagna Gallas Verminator Clich
Song ( Alex If ava) Cesc Diaby Nasri
Bendtner Ed
4-4-2 would be suitable espeically if Song is missing.

I thought the same thing, it's a bit suspect isn't it. pravda.com have it down as a "finger injury"BT wrote:Hmm another Almunia chest infection? Funny how all the other injuries were already known about....

Maybe he showed too much of his "aura" for Wenger's liking in training this week...Dan_85 wrote:I thought the same thing, it's a bit suspect isn't it. pravda.com have it down as a "finger injury"BT wrote:Hmm another Almunia chest infection? pretty dangerous side Porto like. I reckon any kind of draw, or a one goal defeat that includes arsenal grabbing an away goal, and you will get through at the emirates.
The good thing for Arsenal is the fact that you can keep the ball off them for prolonged periods, which could put pressure on them on the occasions they get attacks building, its not easy to attack when you know that if you lose the ball you could struggle to get it back.
Just keep it compact away from home and I think you'll get through
Good luck lads

Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger Confirms Sol Campbell Will Likely Partner Thomas Vermaelen For Porto Clash
Frenchman also claims Almunia's absence is due to a finger problem...

The squad list for Arsenal's trip to Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday evening is notable due to a quintet of first-team absentees, yet Arsene Wenger would rather focus on the players he is taking to Portugal, rather than the player left in north London.
Andrey Arshavin, Alex Song, Eduardo, William Gallas and Manuel Almunia have failed to make the trip, and Wenger stated that the goalkeeping oversight was due to a "twisted finger".
The Frenchman stated that, because he does not like two left-footed players deployed in the heart of defence, Sol Campbell will partner Thomas Vermaelen at centre back, as opposed to Mikael Silvestre.
"Ideally you want them [the five injured] there but I believe it's part of the competition that you focus on the players who play, not on those who dont," Wenger said to Sky Sports.
"The real question is can you make a good result with the players who go to porto so lets focus on those who play."
When pressed as to whether Campbell will be donning the club's colours in European competition for the first time since scoring the club's only goal in the Champions League final, against Barcelona, in 2006, Wenger answered: "It is a possibility.
"If he doesnt play there then it means you play with two left footed players which I don't really like. It means he can show his signing was worth it."
Regarding Almunia, whose form of late has been widely criticised, Wenger said: "He had already a twisted finger and he has made it worse and I didn't want to take a gamble on it."
He continued: "There were great demands placed on the players in that run of games, to play Aston Villa, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool… the break was welcome for us.
"The basic problem is to go over there and get a good result that keeps us in the tie for the home game."

Yes, bailing out the F.A. Cup certainly helped with the break, Arsene...

Clichy, Campbell, Vemuelen, Sagna,
Diaby, Cesc, Denilson
Rosicky(or NASRI) Bendtner, Walcott
Porto are certainly not to be taken lightly, Only beaten once at home all season at that was by Chelsea, saying that though, i see this one as another Villareal, a tough struggle in the first leg, maybe a moment of brilliance from one of our players to nick a goal, then we'll steamroller them at the Emirates!

Security for the Gunners' Champions League trip on Wednesday will be stepped up after fans clashed with riot police during the 0-0 draw at Leixoes on Saturday.
Porto hooligans went on the rampage and tried to break down gates keeping them back from home supporters
