Buffon our new keeper?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

My mate told me about this today, not sure how much to believe. He also said we was linked to Arteta.

Watched some of the juve v ac milan game last night and buffon played until half time (have sky + rest of it so dont know why he went off :? ). At that stage juve were 2 nil down against an aging team and it would be very easy to see why buffon might want to leave. Tbh chellini was the only juve player at that stage that stood out at all and they were toothless going forward

I am not saying for 1 minute that buffon is a realistic target for us this summer but if he was then really we should be moving to sign him (or any top player) straight away for 2 obvious reasons -
(1) Why wait for the price to rise again after a good world cup ?
(2) Now is the time to show cesc we mean business by making some ambitious signings showing him that we are going forward - on the flip side of that if we give juve a chance to bring in a top manager of their own and make a few important signings he might think that they are a club on the up. Obviously this theory can apply to any player

Dont know why I wrote all this but the transfer market is the one area where every summer I cling to the smallest thread of optimism that we will sign some quality players
