Could also be a reflection of the fact that we only have one England international in our first team squadjamjc64 wrote:Joking aside, this is a sad reflection on our club at the moment, maybe there is a link in that we have been without a trophy for so longThe DBs wrote:No Gooners in the squad! Look at manure and the chavs in the PL (and the mousers in Europe); Giggs, Scholes, Rooney, Terry, Lampard, Cole, Gerrard, Carragher... that's just off the top of me head too.

I think it's a bit of an odd decision to be honest. Everyone knows Theo is an impact player so playing him from the start is not getting the best out of him. Also, he plays best when he plays as a winger. Apparently Capello was doing that, but the last few games I've seen Theo more in his own half than in the oppositions.
The trouble with Theo is that if he sticks in one dodgy cross, Shrek gets arsy and Theo gets scared and puts in an even worse cross next time. Hopefully this will be the kick up the backside for the lad to grow some balls and attitude.
I'm not a huge Theo fan either, but I do think people are a little harsh on him. He's been under scrutiny in all the england games so far and the one against Mexico springs to mind. I thought he played alright against Mexico and put in a couple of quality crosses. The fact fat frank and rooney didnt bother playing him in is their problem. Also, he had a far better game than James Milner who I actually don't ever remember touching the ball.
With regards to Lennon, I'd hope he's a better player than Walcott seeing as he's a couple of years older, and people are forgetting that at 21 Lennon was utter shyte and nowhere near the England squad. He's being put in on the back of a half decent five months at the start of the season - the first half decent months of his entire career.
Even then, Walcott probably scored more goals than he did in the few months he wasn't injured.
I think Walcott's had a decent season bearing in mind he's only had a few months. The goal against Barce at the grove was good, the run for Bendtner's goal in the Nou Camp was good, the goal against Burnley was quality, not to mention the million and one crosses he laid on a plate for Bendtner to hoof over. The goal against Wigan was also pretty good. I think it's a shame, but hey, at least he'll be fully fit for next season and hopefully his confidence isnt completely shattered.

Exactly. If he isn't good enough to start then he's not good enough to go....Dazk1981 wrote:He's not good enough to start games, still would of brought him though cos he does do well when he comes off the bench, he's not even good enough to start games for arsenal let alone england
He'll still only be 23 for the next European Championships and 25 for the next World Cup. So he has plenty of time to prove in his Arsenal performances that he is ready!
Good post, Worthing.
I too am a little surprised he hasn't gone as an impact player. We know from his Arsenal performances that he's pretty rubbish when he starts games, but has also shown that he can make a difference in the final 15mins when brought on against tired teams and/or when the game is stretched.
That said, so can SWP.
As an England fan, I'd have liked him to have been on the bench in the World Cup, but never mind. He hasn't really earned his place anyway.

Agree, but we are in minority.LDB wrote:Walcott is invaluable as an impact player and carries a pedigree and fear in opposition defences.donaldo wrote:I would take them two over Walcott any day of the week. All Walcott has is pace without the fucking ballLDB wrote:This is what i dont get... walcott flatters to deceive.. so we go with shaun wright-philips and aaron lennon
At least walcott can score goals
Its 80 minute mark againt germany, England are 2-1 down. On comes Shaun Wright-Philips.
Good luck with that.
I think Joe Cole should go because he is quality, but Walcott up front gets goals.
Or Aussie.Been saying it for years; foreign flair is great but you need a spine of steel, be it English or Scots or Irish, in a team to win the PL in particular.

Worthing, people on here are not being harsh on him cos of his performances in the english shirt.....we are watching him show his shitiness for our club every time he plays
I have no doubt that the fact he spouts off so often about his engerland dreams has def played a part in the fans feelings towards him as well - he is paid (excessively I might add) by our club and his priority should always been Arsenal FC but with theo it does not look that way no matter how many fools have chanted his name in support of him at the grove
