As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
5 years and he hasn't addressed the problems. How long should we give old Arsene bless him, another 5 years? Yeah, in fact, let's have a collection for him, if every Gooner at the Emirates put a fiver in the pot at the first game we could give Denilson another deserved pay rise!!
we haven't won a game in 5 years? thats news to me
It does not make sence to keep faith in a keeper that is a joke. Also we need a good defender. It is so hard to find one !!
Wenger turned base metal into gold now he is looking like a fool.
Again I say that I dont understand it at all.

How do we go from talking about winning titles to talking about winning 1 game

exactly. I said you people expect too much, and then he goes on about "no trophy in 5 years"! as if its a crisis . if trophies are that important to him then no wonder he's so pissed off. luckily I'm an arsenal fan through thick or thin, and I really don't feel the lust for trophies . We didn't win anything from 1953 to 1970 for fucks sake . THATS a crisis .

Not having the same money to pursue the same players as he once did can have that effect you know.

Well, like many I was quite confident at the start of the summer when Wenger and Gazidis openly admitted there us money to be spent and that mint is for transfers alone, set aside frm any other expenses. However, after we got Chamakh for free and Kos for around 8-10 mill, and Wengers admittance that we only need 1 more CB, and apparently no new GK, it appears that all the talk was either lies or Wenger is deluded. I am a massive Wenger can but If we start the new season with Flappy or Almunia in goal then I really will be angry and very very confused. As many others have said t would take very little money comparatively to ensure a team which has SOME chance of at least competing! Otherwise it would not surprise me if we ended up 6th this season.
Congrats Wenger. You have turned a loyal rosetinter into a cinic in just a few weeks. Please don't push me any further!
Having the money and having the desire to spend it are two different things, though.
BP made a first quarter profit of five billion USD but was unwilling to invest one hundreth of one percent to eliminate or minimize the possibility of a blowout on that well in the gulf.
They had the money but had no desire to spend it. I would say as I agree the money is there that that could well be the case - that the Board simply don't want to spend it.
Now some suggest this is because paying down the debt is their first concern? Well why only make minimum payments on it annually when we have anywhere from 75-150 miilion pounds available to slash the debt at this point?
And when that blow-out happened how much did they have to spend cleaning up the mess and how much did their share price drop.
Arsenal are unwilling to spend that little bit to give us the strongest possibility of success and should we finish out of the top 4, how much will we lose in terms of revenue.
With success comes great financial benefits in football and isn't that something we would benefit from? and we dont need to spend 100mill to achieve this.

Exactly - and the scary scary thing is they don't undertsnad this - or they do and just don't care that much.
They talk of being prepared to cope financially with a year without Champions League football. The problem is in all likelihood it willbe more than a year without Champions League football as if we are unwilling to invest in stregthening the team now, I doubt we will be then as well - especially when as you note that is the first and most immediate instance of how much more it will cost to finish fifth than just to invest to compoete to be in the top two at this point.
I would say their business plan really is very much like BP's - they don't want to invest any more than they already are and know the risks involved with that, have no adequate plan to deal with consequnces of that backfiring on them, and are just hoping it doesn't happen from what I see. THAT IS their business strategy by the look of it.

Over reacting. We've all been spoilt.
So in yr opinion, what is justification for highest priced average football tickets in the whole fucking world?
so your only angry about this because they charge too much for tickets ? I agree, the normal, propper fans are being priced out. Thankfully though, "Bring back Pires" won't be attending any arsenal matches in the near future, so for every cloud...
The problem with the the whole "five trophyless years is nothing - look at 1953-1970" Is that in 1959 your dads and grandads were saying exactly the same thing about 1886-1929...

I'm not only angry about ticket prices...I asked you for justification, because team that has won fuck all in last five seasons and was repeatedly humiliated last season by likes of ManUre and Chavsky should not charge highest ticket prices in the world, no ifs no buts...but all I've got from you was pathetic attempt at slagging off of another forum member...you got as much class as current Arsenal squad, which is not much really...salute

it's called having a laugh, and if you have such a problem with our "shit" squad then fair enough, just remember in 1995 George Graham left us a right loads of denilsons, but wenger came and juiced it up. ( well obviously rioch signed bergkamp)
