time to get behind almunia

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

So the ladt 5 years mean nothing to you?

Get a fucking grip superfan.

Better players and men than Almunia have been booed before. Almunia is a whimp and a shit keeper that has cost us titles and European Cups.

Jens Lehmann, Seaman, true heros and brilliant keepers. Legends.

Almunia - Disgrace of a player and to the club.

Hope hes booed, only one way to get the message across.
Superfan this, superfan that, yawn, yawn, yawn,

Is it wrong to be a little bit positive, try and get behind the players and give them positive vocal support? (And of course sing 'One Arsene Wenger?) :barscarf:

We should get behind him completely, as he is far far better than anything else we have in that position and actually he isn't that bad at all.

No, he isn't a Seaman or a Jennings, maybe not even a Lukic, but he is IMO a Premiership standard keeper and not deserving of some of the stick that comes his way.

Name a keeper that doesn't make the odd high profile error - Cech's made plenty in the past couple of seasons and was not so long ago supposed to be amongst the best in the world. In the first couple of weeks of this season, and the last couple at the tail end of last season there were glaring errors from Howard, Kirkland, Carson, Green, Schwarzer, Cudicini to name but a few. Personally I don't think Almunia has made any gaffes as bad as some of theirs recently and yet some of the posters on here suggest that he is not even of Premiership standard.

Rather him than the "never will be" Polish clown who added to his already impressive total from last year with a pathetic pre-season, and who no doubt (if trusted by the GIC) will play a key role in surrendering both domestic cups (yet again).

Almunia for the PL and CL, Chesney for the Carling and FA Cups please !!

The venom aimed at Arsenal players on here leaves me gobsmacked. I just dont get the rabid hounding of players on this forum.Yes this probably the best place to get it out of your system rather then vent your spleen at the ground but the negativity is astounding. I am a ST holder and do about 15 aways per year so i get to see a few games live. My opinion is not worth more than anyone elses but with the window now closed this grizzling cannot be healthy for us as fans. No doubt this will be shouted down by the masses that Arsene should of signed a keeper but that moment is gone.
People keep it tight and give it your all to support the lads, they need it.

Get behind him? Are you having a laugh?!?!

Did it not cross your mind that the fans have been 'behind' him for about 3 years now, and what has he done to repay our support?

Face it, Arsenal have by far the worst trio of keepers in the Prem. Each and every one of them is absolute dog sh*t!!

Wenger has made a serious, serious error this summer by not signing a class keeper!

Think. How many points must we have dropped last season due to our shocking goalies?

Up front isn't too much better, either. We have a striker who has bones made of glass. Bendtner, who is rubbish, and a very unproven Chamakh.

Say what you want about how many goals Chamakh has scored (which is not even that many). But look how many Kuyt scored in the seasons prior to him joining Liverpool.

Yip, I gotta agree with the thread title. I'm as pissed off as the next guy that we didn't improve on what we got between the sticks (BTW I'm not sure MS would have been an improvement either), but the fact is that that's what we got and there's nothing we can do about until January at the earliest. Now, we can blame Wenger, the board or bloody John Cross for that matter but that won't change jack shit.

I'm gonna support whatever team is out on the pitch playing for The Arsenal. That's not going to stop me having a moan about a shit player in the pub or on here or wherever but while they're on the pitch they have my full support :barscarf:

The fact remains that Wenger is the bigger *word censored* because hes the one who picks the team and hes the one who has yet again done fuck all to rectify the situation

Arsene came to us and brought us pretty much immediate success and the best football around and some of the best players I've ever seen (Henry, Vieira, Bergkamp, Cesc), Crapello gets £5million to do the same old bullshit with England and shows none of his supposed tactical nouse and has hardly picked new players post world cup (Theo doesn't count imo, should be looking at the likes of Rodwell, Muamba). So a rather big difference

Look at Bendtner's performance at home to Burnley last season - probably one of the worst ever seen in top flight football

but by that stage we knew Eduardo was fucked, RVP was, well being RVP and injured, so Bendtner was all we had

was no point in giving him the stick he deserved it would have killed him that Saturday

came out against Porto midweek and bagged a hattrick

pointless giving Almunia stick, save it for Wenger

Fuck getting behind him. I will never forgive him for that last minute cock up at Brum last season. He can shove his gloves up his arse.

If that doesn't make me a 'proper' fan, then so fucking be it.

Agreed, I will back other players even if they are shite, but washed up fuck ups that have cost us trophies like this *word censored* deserve nothing but scorn.

Please someone hit him with coin or full bottle this season. I'm fucking livid with this goalkeeping shite.
