I came across an article a while ago about a british coach with a different outlook and it has been brought up again so i thought i'd copy it here, it highlights a lot of what is wrong- this is the kind of person the FA should be bringing in, not the likes of Carragher, Pearce etc (its a long article, but its pretty good):
Roger Spry is probably the most famous English football coach you've never heard of.
I know the bloke. Well, I know of him. He works for the ÖFB, the Austrian Football Association ( you'll just have to believe me about the initials ), and has just extended his contract. Very well thought of in Austria.
Actually probably well thought of everywhere, if you know of him. Very impressed.
Yes, it is amazing how held back England and the training methods are.
Case in point: Arsene Wenger comes to England, and with one idea...

...he revolutionises the whole of English football.
Seriously though, the English need a wake-up call, and fast.

How depressing!
CBs looked good (Smalling particularly) but the rest were dire. Can't pass and can't control and more than anything don't seem to possess the brains.
In midfield, Mancienne was terrible and Jordan Henderson, I don't get it, what's he supposed to be good at?
Pearce as manager, please God never for the seniors!

Think Henderson's alright. No way worth what the mousers paid for him though.

the under 21s need to stop playing him as a central midfielder for a start, the lad is a right sided midfielder, and he wasnt helped by the ball being hoofed over his head time and time again last night, but aye, much though i think he will go on to be a cracking player in time, he isnt worth £20m at the minute. We wouldnt have sold him for much less like, but i wouldnt expect any takers at that price

I have never been so bored as last night watching this tat!
I admired Stuart Pearce as a player but it must be obvious to all that he is not up to the task and was promoted into the position and subsequently has lived on his fierce patriotism.
The football played was like watching any Allardyce reserve team!

Another good night at the office for pearce and his team
I watched most of the game last night and tbh it was dire stuff

Anybody just looking at the result and seeing engerland concede two late goals might think that they were unlucky but the reality was a different story as far as I am concerned although for me a draw would have been about right
Right I am gonna stick my head out and say this........as a footballer sturidge is shit. His control of the ball is fcuking woeful and I thought his awareness of the game around him was poor - at one stage he took 10 touches of the ball before passing it and he hadnt moved 5 yards

Unless it is hoofed long english players have no concept of moving the ball fast or perpetual motion from their players. Henderson again looked anything but a 20m player and to listen to tyler practically wanking himself about the scum player (naughton) at right full you would think he was cafu when in reality he was just another version of theo.......head down, run at pace and no fcuking brains
It was good to see pearce adopting the same age old policy of having a dig at the media in his post match comments - he had a go at their criticism over englands first two performances when the reality was that they were absolute garbage in both games

Sturidge knocked in a lovely cross for the goal but for me he tried to look bubbly and energetic but that was deceiving cos his 1st touch was akin to bendtners, he chose the wrong option 95% of the time and wa greedy by choosing to shot on occasions when a pass was the better option
